It sounds like I destroyed my rear servo (HS-645), yesterday playing in Atlanta on little rocks.
I'm going to see if I can fix it, or block it off, so that it can steer straight (can't get a servo anytime soon).
Happy B-Day, Mrs. Cycle ;-)

I may stop buy there is no way the truck will be finished by tomorrow :( SUcks but oh well, I guess in the move the clod axles I needed for the OG Heydco adapters I had got lost, so I can't run my normal Moabs, and I am sure as hell aint about to run Stock TXT tires. The to make sure I can't run, the rear servo mount got lost in the mad "I am moving, therefore I must clean house" spree.
Oh well, guess I have time to redo the servo mounts to something a lil better, and to narrow the new beadlocks for the XLs.

Hey raytard, thanks for the offer of parts. I had the adapters, but not the right stub axles. The org. Heydco adapters were ment for clods, not TXTs, so I had to run clod outter shafts on my TXT to make it all work. Oh well.
But anyways, I have a spare clod outter I wont be needing if you want it man! You got PM raytard. I dont get too much internet time, (I HATE dial up) so your best bet is to gimmie a call.
How was it today? I got up and was lazy and helped out the old man all day, and started to figure out how much and how I wanna chop up the new beadlocks. Now next weekend, if I get my adapters in, it is on like donkey kong!

No problem man...
Heck yeah I'll take the outer. Thanks!
The carnage was limited to, a twisted half shaft, & a broken stub shaft.
Not bad for how much fun we had!
I've got a sh!tload of footage...
I could almost make a 5-6 min video of each truck!
I'm thinking maybe 10-15 min. of crawling, & 2 min. of bloopers...
I won't be here next w/e but several of the guy's there today, said they're up for it.

I have balls but I let my Kids play w/ them, & now they are scattered everywhere! I don't know where half of them are, & the other half are lost!
You need 1 ball per gate. 1 ball = 2 halves.
10 gates for each course/class = 20 to 60 balls, for 2 classes (Until we've got 20 people in the comps; We don't need to build, more than 2 courses at a time...) Unless supers & 2.2 run the same course..?.
You can make courses as you finish them but it makes for a longer day... Hell! What else do you have to do while charging batteries? 8-)
Wal-mart has buckets of chalk sticks in the Toy Dept., for a dollar. Oh, don't use so much chalk, that the companies get pi$$ed!!!
Have fun guy's!!! That's what it's all about...

You guy's know how much I hate Hobbytown U.S.A. .....!
Probly, those guys are the biggest dumbas$es I've ever run across. I got my son a new set of Moab XL's and Pro Line beadlocks. Well, you need the adapters to run the wheels right. Those guys didn't have the sence to order the adapters. They've got 2 set's of the beadlocks hanging on the wall,I thought surely they have the adapters sitten somewhere. NOPE,the dumbass said that the adapters were special order but the wheels were a regular stocked item. The dumba$$ness(if thats a word,it is now I guess) there just pisses me off thinking about it. I will NEVER set foot in that place again, they SUCK A ROOT BIG TIME.
Cubman was telling me about a hobbyshop in Oak Ridge. Does anyone know where it is? Do you recon they have the adapters we need? I can't remember for the life of me where it's at or even the name. I'd like to call them to see if they have them before driving all that way. Anyone got a number to the place?

Yeah,me and Eddie put his new Moabs and beadlocks together last night. I was VERY tired of turning that same little allen head. Coarse,I kinda cheated. After about 3 bolts, I thought "to heck with this". Cut off a section of the allen wrench, chucked it up in the drill and powered the rest of them in there. Still time consuming though cuz you still have to go slow. If you run them in to fast you'll strip them out.
If we can't get the adapters,I think we've got enough old 40 series wheels around to make a full set of 4. Might have an odd ball wheel or two but he'll be able to run his truck. One way or another I'll be there Sunday.
Oh,I'm game for tuggin with anyone. I've never pulled against another crawler. I've pulled my nephew around in his Red Ryder wagon quite a bit though:lol:  I would like to see how it fairs against another rig.
And if ya'll think it's necessary to hook all your trucks together in order to pull me......whatever it takes right:lol:

I may have to do that, but I will borrow a power screwdriver, it lacks the balls that a nice drill/driver has. I am just soo pissed that I put it all together without checking everything first, and THEN doing the beadlocks. Oh well.
I also dont have too much time to cut them down...so I may just deal with tire rub on Sunday, we will see.

That is fine Ray, I will also bring those old Moabs and adapters too! I gotta cut the wheels before BPB2 but I am not sure about before sunday. Not to mention I gotta trouble shoot my set-up. I am gonna try and fix up my bent Integy shock so I can go back to the last set up I had other than XLs instead of regular Moabs.
I have got some binding and lack of articulation that I haven't had before with these links and shocks. THe flex is ok, but the back end espically is feeling very stiff. I guess my shocks are due for a rebuild, since they haven't been touched in a year and a half or so.

Yeah, until you put the whole width of the tire into your frame! Although I do have a good line on what is the hold up in my set up. I have a feeling that without the Hedyco adapters and wideners, my shock set up is too stiff. We will see tomorrow! I will be there and ready to GIT weather or not the set-up is 100% dead on!!!

Hey Busted and Ray, I will be in the shop tonight 8/15 6 pm to 10 pm if you need to use it just let me know!
I just got my 65 turn integy and some weights and other goodies from tower today so I got some work to do!!

Cool good to know. I think I just need weights, the TQ3, which I have to wait til Friday night for, and maybe some shock oil changes. Sadly I dont think Hobbyclown carries any sort of spring selection for those MGT springs.
Although given the radically different truck it became with the battery moved forward, I think shock oil change, and some lead weights up front will get me into a position, where the truck can do well, if I dont mess up.
Although....had my battery been on the axle from the get go, I would have only had a couple of backs for the first 5 gates........hmm.....

Sorry B.C. !
I'll let you guy's know later if I'll be there tonight. I'm getting a couple of things done to the car, for the trip...
Do you have a set up so I could drill 1/8" holes in shafts &/or outputs?
I had to go back to that POS of a LHS we got!
All I needed were the spring & the nut to hold my slipper on...
He wanted to know what it was for; so I told him "a B4"...:lol:
Guess what! They had to order both of them! Guess what else!!
Because I haven't bought anything from them in the past (according to their computer; Because I've never had to tell them my name or #) I had to PRE-PAY for the order...
It was < $3.00 so it wasn't a big deal but...
And since as far as he knew; I was a 1st time customer. The rest shouldn't have happened... :
I asked when it would be in, & he said "Well if our w/h has it; It should be here Thursday.".
Then after a long pause... I had to ask "if they would call me or do I just show up?!" He was like, "We'll call you whenever we get it."...

What are you sorry for man? The fact that your course absolutely ate my lunch on 2 obstacles? Or the fact I was spoiled by having 2 different Hobbytowns, that were twice the size of this lil POS that stock about 10x as many parts, with people who were actually interested in make you the customer happy, and I am now forced to shop at this lil rat hole of a joint.
Hey Ray, you think I should bring in the TXT and ask for springs to fit the shocks on the truck? Hahaha
I am very glad to know I can get my lead weights at O'Riely....although I have never been to one of those.....can't be that bad though.
I also used to think springs, and shock oil where common on the shelf items, which at 99.9999% of hobby shops they are...except this one. I am afraid to even go get shock oil, much less springs. Oh well...I think the truck should make an apperance just to F with those priks...
anyone game for a come screw with hobbyclown trip and maybe get some parts?

I'll be coming to the shop in a lil' bit! ~ 7:15
I'll bring all my stuff for the V.S....
Yep, I have some pics. I'll put them up in a bit.
Oh, and I took my Linkless Stick into the knoxville Hobby Town a couple weeks ago and they didn't know what hit them. The guy behind the counter asked me if it was for a science project.:)
Maby we could try to get them involved in our little niche in the hobby and see if they will start stocking parts we all need (like 23mm adapters for one :))
Sorry if I missed someone's rig, my batteries died before I could take many.

For anyone running Moabs: What foam setup do you like for East Tennessee terrain? I have read that some narrow their foams, and some narrow them and cut them into a star pattern. No one seems to have determined how many points the foam should have when cut into a star pattern, either. Also, how much weight are you all running in your tires (or on your wheels)?

I run regular (not XL) moabs with unnarrowed XTM Thorns. One hole drilled in each wheel and No Foam. NO weight, except the batteries on the front knuckles. I have found a lot of weight (in my clod) hurts its ability to pull the front wheels up on a vertical surface.

You've not forgot about that yet?   I've not either. Pretty stupid to have a set of wheels that require a "special adapter" to run them........and not even have the adapters on hand. Good way to piss customers off. I won't ever shop at Hobby Town again. Theres one guy in there thats pretty cool to talk to,he don't know much about crawlers ....but at least he admitted it right up front. The other guys are dickheads, what makes them so bad is that they act like they know about stuff they don't have a clue about. I'll just keep going to "The Speed Shop" down in Harriman. Mike(the guy that owns it) is super to deal with and has always had awesome prices. He doesn't have a crawler but he's interested and willing to listen and learn.

It's your call.........Personally.....I wouldn't let any of them guys install my body clips, let alone program a high dollar ESC.
They've got a computer,so they've got the required tools. Do they know how to use it though.......I doubt it.
I'm going to Bristol for the Busch night race on Friday,so that day is shot. If you can hitch a ride up to my place Saturday,I'll help ya program it. I'll probly be trying to get my gears set up so they'll hold up for a day's crawl on Sunday most of the day Saturday. I can stop anytime and help ya with that. If I get our trucks ready,we'll probly go down in the woods and work on the coarses. We live up in Sunbright, roughly 35-40 minutes from Oak Ridge. RobI run Tamiya Clod axles on my Super, & Tamiya TLT axles on my 2.2 ...
The last time I mentioned TAMIYA in H.T., The "kid" chuckled & said; "we don't & probably won't stock anything Tamiya!"
Also whenever we ask for parts, W/ the part # in hand; Y'all still want to know what it's going on....?!
If we tell y'all we're using Revo turnbuckles on TLT axles, all of a sudden you don't have 'em (even though we can see them, right behind the guy), or we get a lesson on how they won't work...
All we want, is what we asked for..!
I understand about theft!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But.....
Alot of times we have to look at stuff (finger through it), to see if it'll work w/ our application.
There is NO WAY of doing that at the K-Town H.T..
At Rick's; Everything is where you can see/touch it!
There are a few things in cases or behind the counter but...
They'll show it to you w/o hesitation (it don't matter why you need it)! 8-)
Part of the problem at H.T. is there are way more customers than cashiers.
Therefore, we have to wait in a sloooooooooooow moving line till the guy can't SELL anymore. And, God forbid you need help but, your only looking (talk about pissing salespeople off)..!
I'm not mad at you or any of the other employees...

Can you upgrade to any hobby grade crosspin? What size is the pin? I lost a crosspin once for my 14mm hexes on my Twin. I found a small drill bit that would fit close enough cut it to size and walla, fixxed. Actually, now that I think of it,I'm still running that drill bit,it's getting close to 2 years old I guess.

After all, I gotta see what this is all about. Need that ammo to convince the owner to get the stuff you all need.

Relaaaaaaax.
Who's fired up? I ain't,well, maybe a little after that left hander I just finished:lol: ...........just stating my opinion from past experiences.
Look, you guys at Hobby Clown are probably nice guys and all. Hope you get to make it to a meet. We can show you how to BUILD a truck.....not bolt one together following the instructions. The biggest thing that turned me off to Hobby Town, ordering something and it doesn't come in till 2.....3.....weeks later. SEVERAL times,I was told "yeah,it'll be in next week and I'll call you and let you know". I wait a week and a half cuz I know sometimes shipping can take a day or two extra,I used to work freight..so YES I do know how shipping works. After that week and a half and no call,I call...."no sir,it's not in yet".:x I then wait another week with no call, call again...."nope,not hear yet":x :x .Wait a third week WITH NO CALL.....Call in and some dork answers the phone and says "yeah we got it a couple weeks ago":x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x
Thats O.K. though,I don't hold a grudge against any one particular person down there. I know that theres several monkeys that handle each order and whatnot,so,who's to say who's fault it is.....you can't really. I've just finally decided that I will no longer do business down there cuz I'm tired of the whole parts ordering deal. I'll go to the Speed Shop thank you. Mikes got kicka$$ service,WAAAAAAAY better prices and he won't tell his customers that they can't do something that they are building or try to talk them into buying something else.
I also got tired of getting looked at like some kinda freak cuz I want to buy gears for 6 completely different RC's and use them together to build a custom gearbox,or something of that nature. Not everything has to be built with an instruction manual.
I'd like to see someone at Hobby Town build one of my drive shafts, not the whole truck, just one drive shaft. Theres no instruction manual......good luck:-P
Seriously though,99% of most crawlers are 99% custom built. Theres some guys around here locally that have some talent in building custom stuff. Theres also others that are learning quickly and getting better every time they build something. If some of you manual readers would put the books down, you'd probably be amazed at the things you can learn.
One thing I want to make perfectly clear.......
I'm not aiming any or all of this at any one particular person at Hobby Town. You guys are probably nice guys on a personal level. I've just been disappointed to many times shopping at Hobby Town,so I choose not to shop there. I hope you all come out and crawl with us and see first hand, the talent thats there and the fun we all have. Maybe you'll get hooked and build a crawler yourself and start competing with us

i hate i mist the gtg i will make the next one. ha phishead1101 your pm is full i tryed to send you info for club .how did yhe bta work8)
Lumbee1 My PM is no longer full sorry about that...try sending your info. don't forget the pictures.
Raptor, That was nicley put. I think you hit the nail on the head! I personaly .....I have only had a handfull of problems with H.T. 1 being not enough people to help in the hobby section 2. not being able to browse threw the parts, I understand the reason for keeping them behind the counter but sometimes I am looking for something (don't now what) and I don't have part numbers. I would like to see more parts and pieces out from behind the counter.
Thunder, I am glad that you are on RCC now and I can't wait for you guys to come and check out one of our Get togethers! Who would I talk to about sponsoring one of our events? We will be having several competitions in the near future, and a full season of comps after the first of the year. I would like to have H.T. get involved because I think that WE may bring in some new faces to the club and the RC crawler scene if we were to work together. Do you guys have any Hobby Town Banners? Or would you be willing to donate items for the prizes at a comp? how does that work? I would like to trade some advertising space i.e your store window for announcing our comps. for banners on our website / banners at the competitions. Let me know the appropriate contact for this when you get a chance.
One other thing, Guys when you think about it RC crawling is still relatively "new" in the rc world......rc crawling is starting to get more and more exposure to the john q public and I think that things will start moving relatively fast in that direction. Hobby shops of the H.T. sort are still relatively NEW to rcrc as well. Just keep that in mind! Sounds to me that if we start telling thunder what we need they might stock a little more stuff in our favor. As for the customer service that is beyond us. If you don't like the way they do business just stop shopping there!

Well, the original question was if we could program them. Not that it needed to be done asap. Relaaaaaaax.
Like I said at the outset, I'll be more than happy to see to it we get in the stuff anyone needs provided they let us know what we need to carry.
I'm here to help, not get dragged into a flame-war. Not my style, gang.
Rob
Thanks for letting me know, Rob. If I have any more problems, I'll probably swing by your store (No offense Raptorman, I have to convince my parents to drive me everywhere, and if my mom takes me to Hobby Town, then she get to go shopping in Knoxville).
I would like to see Hobby Town stock a better selection of servos. Airtronics 94359Zs, HiTec 5998TGs, HiTec 5955TGs, HiTec 5995TGs, and 1/4 scale servos. Crawler specific tires, lot of choices for stadium truck, maxx, and buggy springs. Many crawlers use traxxas turnbuckles for links. Almost all super class crawlers use Revo Shafts, so it would be nice if you all have those in stock. Transmission components from the Traxxas Stampede are also very common place in 2.2 class rock crawlers (and my super class rock crawler  ).
Thanks for trying to support our branch of the hobby. If I ask for parts from 5 different manufacturers, please do not ask me to explain it or tell me it won't work.
That is all.

I lost the lower spring retainer for my Twin Force shock absorber at our last get-together. Do you all have a suitable replacement? I think any one from any 1/8 scale buggy should work.

Also we have Spring brook in Maryville, Edgewood north Knox, and Hummer of Knoxville let me and momentum play on the display for a while. I am ready to go for Sunday. LMK

I think she's wanting to be abused for a while. I might help my freind Doug put a new motor in his Toyota on Saturday and get Charles,Bear and Doug and wheel Sunday. If it falls through,I'm down for Sunday. New spots are cool with me. I'll let ya'll know something Saturday so you know for sure.

I wish I wasn't so far away. I've got a couple hours to kill before we go 1:1 wheeling. It takes about 1 1/2 hours for me to get to Northshore so I'd have to turn around and come back as soon as I got there. I may go work on our crawl area down in the woods a little before our ride.

One thing I've noticed....99% of the grass and dirt around the rock ledges,it's only about 1 to 2" deep. I can just kick it out of the way in most places. I cleaned off a pretty good sized place with a square shovel in a few minutes. I know it ain't the waterfall and doesn't have as many rocks. I think it's shapeing out pretty nicely. A little more work and it'll be a pretty big spot. If anyone is game we can try to have a get together or a comp here someday if you like.

Well, you guys are welcome to come up if ya'll want to. If you guys wanna wait till another weekend though, thats cool also. I'm game for Sunday, any time...any place.
I think I've pulled something in my back pushing those rocks around last weekend. I've been hobbling around all week like a 98 year old man. It just so happens that the church we're building right now is ALL 12" block:roll: That just makes everything that much more interesrting.
As far as camping and drinking....I'm sure it'd be O.K. with dad if we had a little bomb fire and hung out. As long as we picked up all the trash and didn't destroy anything. I don't think I'd even have to worry about that kinda thing though. I just wanna say this,my mom and dad are VERY straight. Seeing how it is their property,I know ya'll know as well as I do,we need to respect their feelings. As long as it's under wraps, grab me a cold one and pop a top;-)
Ya'll don't have to come up to work. I'd hate to see ya come up and work yourself to death. Depending on what my dads doing that day,we can probly use the tractor to move a few biggens. If he's putting hay up or something, maybe not. Sometimes he's got a small window of good weather and he's got to get stuff done before it rains. If ya'll wanna just come up to crawl for the day that's just fine also.
Raptorman still want a tugawar we'll go.
