Talk about thinking outside the box... using a servo for the drivetrain... that's brilliant.

did you remove or disable the potentiometer (POT) in the servo to make it spin continuously...any way awesome micro rig I love these things

I actually gutted all of the electronics out of the servo and then modded the main gear for continuous rotation so all thats left is the gears and motor

Thanks for the nice comments guys...

I tell ya, 0-80 socket head cap screws and the nuts that go with them are small, and I have big ol sausage fingers. Its tough sometimes. I've also started using super glue for X-acto cuts now too, it saves on down time :-P

Whats the wheelbase on that thing must be like 4 inches. Sweet truck too

Just measured it at 4.6" which is a 110" 1:24 scale wheelbase. Close guess! ;-)

Thanks again for all the great comments guys. Let me know if you have any more questions...

Well racer, that vid deffinately puts a boot in my *** to get mine going. Where'd you get the hex tube to extend your drive shafts? The only places I can find it are tower and mcmaster, and the only option is to order at least 6 feet, when I barely need 6 inches for my truck

I used small chunks of 9/64 allen wrench and some butt connector plastic to make the driveshafts so far. I'll post a pic of what i did later...

what kind of run times are you getting using a servo for the motor?

what kind of run times are you getting using a servo for the motor?

I've run it probably 1.5 hrs so far and no sign of battery drain. i'm runnin 4 AAA Energizer Alkalines... I expect with the low gearing of the servo the run time should be way long...

My Question is this can you take some really detailed pics of your running gear drive train etc.etc.Also i was curious what the axles came from.I have 4 kyosho overlands they do ok but nothing like yours.WOW I have been fighting and messing around with overlands for a minute but they just are not 4wd and dont get the articulation like yours does.I also have aoshima super swampers on them along with lego tires and tires from a 4wd drive battery operated toy from walmart.I took those tires and they are good and soft but hollow so i filled them with silicone it worked ok.Thanks later,Never Enough:mrgreen:

Did a little Lego Crawlin the other day... :)

Please right clik save as. About 9 megs in size

Lego Crawlin (http://www.tveinc.com/temp/LegoCrawlin-01.wmv)

I havent done anything else to it lately because its too much fun to drive. 2 things ive learned so far:

1. Get the metal gear set for the servo. The plastic gears are making noise already.:?
2. Batteries last forever in this thing. I finnaly had to change them after I'd guess 5 solid hours of crawlin, maybe more...

The videos disappeared and I was hoping someone could help me find them. For those that downloaded them and still have them, try uploading them to something like Youtube.com (http://www.youtube.com)
It's not too hard to do, would keep the videos up indefinitely, and would help us all out a lot since we don't have to worry about what codecs stuff is in, etc, since Youtube uses a flash video player. Thanks in advance!

You can find more tires that will work if your interested. Alot of the guys there try making crawlers out of their overlands. Reguardless, you may find some more scale items there if interested.

You should be able to find some pics in this thread on how i mounted my leaves... as far as drilling, its not easy... you have to be patient and it helps if you use a center punch to mark your holes. spring steel is fun to drill through...

I've started another project but those details will be in another thread soon "thumbsup"
