I cruise the thrift stores for bodies constantly and all I ever find is crap. Today I hit junk store pay dirt. I'm hoping things will work out as well as clodkings. The build is going to go pretty slow because the only thing I have on hand is a 1/6th nylint and some maxx's. Either way here she is.

The thing was 2 bucks by the way.

Wow. I hadn't looked at it finished until now. I don't think theres anything I can do to make something like that. Hot dog I've got some work to do.

If my plans go right GiJoe will have his GiHoe shotty. I definately want this thing to go the "right way." I'm thinking moabs, clod axles (I'm tired of fighting drive lines and keeping interiors stock), barely cut fenders and a scratch built winch. Just to get a start.

Great find. I have always check the local thrift store and never even came close to this nice of a find. You know you could have talked them down to a $1.00 just so you could say you only paid a buck fo it. :)

I found 5 bucks on the street earlier so technically it was free and so was the candy I got. Candy and crawlers, The fruit of life.

I started mocking things up with cardboard. I'm at a stand still because I can't decide between leafs or coils. I know leaf is "true" scale. I just wanted to get some opinions.

go leaf, it is scale and will probally be easier.

leaf it. only way to go with such a scale body. Forget the crawler aspect and do a SUA with bruiser axles. paint it all willy's green.

This thing is way too wide. Plus those things would look like tooth picks under a 1/6 scale. Either way I'm going with moads, revolvers, rock rings, and tlt axles with 3/4" wideners. I know I know wideners suck. But if all works out like I plan its going to be a perfect tuck under.

whats the width fender to fender of the body?

Decided on a base to run on. I was digging through my "magic box o' parts" and sure enough TLT axles buiried on the bottom. The first of about 20 that I've owned. I'm going to go with the same basic setup I did with the d90. Tuck the pede tranny as low as possible under a sub frame. I also had some jugg leafs left over and got some super discount g-hawgs. So far I'm only 28 bucks in. Everything was either given to me or so cheap its practically free. Pics to come.

What about Juggy axles? Keep with the military theme. Nothing like a Willy's with 2.5 ton Rockwells... The width should be about the sam as TLT's w/wideners.
CrawlnSlow
06-15-2006, 06:26 PM
If I could fund jugg axles without losing my apartment I'd be down. The fact that I can't fab in a supmarket parking lot dictates tlt's.:flipoff: Although would that make me more "hardcore?"

A little paint to get the ball rolling. I would have started the cage, but my MAPP supply would get through about 2 joints. My dads workshop has fallen off since I moved out.

Made a little bit of progress. Got the basic cage laid out. Still have to put cross braces and grab bars. I also got the g hawgs. The tires are where I hit a dead end. For some reason 2 of them are a good half inch shorter. I don't know if imex changed the design or what but now I have to find a whole new set. At least that will leave me one for a spare. Here she is so far.

Totally random work. I've barely gotten to touch this thing. Whole lot going on in life right now. I'm tring the whole transmission to T-case thing again. This time it's actually going to look decent. Here's what I've gotten done in the past couple days.

I Like the pretty pictures too, but you need to read the words or have them read to you. It's been mentioned twice on two seperate pages WITH a direct link.
