Built up a black SW2 today....and some 1/4 inch delrin links. This black setup is such a nice change from the norm. Anyway let me know what you think. I will get some more pics up once I go through them.

thanks for the good words guys.
it may have seemed like a quick build, but only the chasis, links, body, tires/wheels, and other small parts are new. I rebuilt the tranny and axles, but they are not new.

The dovetail seems to hold up great, i just cut it, drill holes/screw it together near the bottom, and shoe goo it. After you dovetail it sometimes it bows, so I usually boat side it to eliminate the bowing. I have done this to my 2 previous rubicon bodies and they have held up fine, even after 20ft cliff drops straight to the body. another good thing about it is it allows you to sit the body lower=lower cog.

Black shocks would be really cool. It would be good to get everything black.
Those pics are taken near red rocks, deer creek looks like it would have some good stuff to crawl though. Any problems (police, etc.) crawling in the deer creek area?
Mine, i'm trying to have blacked out. Period.
I have not had problems w/ anyone yet, besides a snake but he went away! It is in jeffco open space so....:?:

I would look at the rules of jefco open space... I am not sure if it applys to all of it. But I know some of the stuff atleast up deer creek canyon is like that (no climbing on rocks) Not trying to burst your bubble just dont want to see somebody get slapped with a ticket for r/c crawling
edit* they have a flyer with all the rules and junk sitting by the trail maps
I guess i found an answer!
Per jeffco open space rules:
Launching missiles and crafts 5.84.22
It shall be unlawfull to throw or launch any type of missiles or operate any remote controlled, self powered, water, surface, or aircraft on open space lands. Fine $60.00
Sorry for chatting in your thread!

Just ordered mine. Any suggestions on the lengths of the links? I am going for that blacked out look also. I am finishing my TXT and then starting the SW2. I love the delrin idea. I am thinking of Imex All-T, Red Rocks or Moabs.
The wife is going to kill me.
The SW2 is for the kids...yeah that's the ticket.

I would suggest a 12.5 wb, comp ready. As far as link length, the traxxas 105mm links (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXSP06&P=ML) work best. there actual length from ball joint to ball joint is about 110mm. For the delrin links I used the jato rod ends(http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXKMD6&P=7) with M4 hardware(4mm), with those I had a friend who was kind enough to drill and tap 1/4"delrin rod which was cut at about 58mm. Does that even make sense?.......anyway it all threaded together and seems to be working out great. For the tires I would DEFINITELY go with the MOABS. They seem to work great on the stuff I crawl on.

So the delrin rods were cut at 58mm. What did you use the traxxas turnbuckles for?
Can you send me some close ups so I can understand?

the rod was cut at 58mm then tapped. then I used the jato rod ends with 4mm threaded rod to put them together. the turnbuckles are what to use if you dont want to make delrin links.
