I know there is probably some good stuff to crawl up there. Its probably gonna be 1:1 stuff. When I was up there a couple years ago, on the weekend every just about every other truck was towing some type of 4x4. Some of them were SICK, Tube buggies, real nice jeeps all kinds of stuff.

I know I'm dragging back an old thread, but I was just down there last weekend and got a job offer while on vacation. How's the food and housing prices in comparison to the pay in that area?

does the phrase, "der ner ner ner ner ner ner ner ner" *banjo voice*

all I remember about branson was drinking in a private club, where the bartender had the crow off the Old Crow whiskey bottle tattooed on his forearm, "Y'all are alright, we just say that to keep the n*ggers out" I sh*t you not

and getting kicked out of the go cart track because we were blitzed and one of the guys was trying to drive the track backwards.

There was an all you can eat shrimp, crab leg and crayfish joint that was alright. at least it was when you go in half crocked and eat shellfish for two and a half hours and run the place out of PBR (before it got yuppie and popular)

this was about 6 years ago though, things might have improved.

sometimes I miss college, mostly I'm glad I survived it

Seems to have changed a bunch since I was there nearly 20 years ago, highway 76 isn't the roadblock it used to be either. Seemed like there would be a lot of crawling there too.

This area is still one of the cheapest places to live in the US. Not sure what you where offered in Pay, or if you have Family to support. I live just North of Branson about 30min or so. There are a lot of Crawling spots in the area. Not much 1:1 unless you drive 1hr or 2hr.

Not sure what the job would pay, I was too shocked by the offer to ask. We do have some family friends who just bought a house there less than a year ago that would sub-let the basement to me if I were to want to give it a try and my folks (who I currently reside with here in Chicago) may move down there in a year or two as well, so that part is pretty well covered. My XJ does need a muffler and brake job before I even consider the trip since the muffler and rear brakes are all factory (with almost 117k on them too), I'd even consider an upgraded rear swaybar and new or better front sway bar bushings considering the roads down there, I take it the drunk drivers eliminate themselves pretty easily on those roads:shock:

Now that I think of it.......

How's the RC Scene down there, is there a lot of racing, bashing, crawling, nitro vs electric, land vs air vs water, ect in that general area?

Also whats the 1:1 scene and is there any kind of plastic model, model railroad, slot cars ect action in that general vicinity?

I was born in Branson and go back for the summer time. I go to school in Springfield and Rolla starting next fall. There really isnt much of an rc scene down there at all, I rarely see anyone with hobby grade stuff. The hobbytown used to have races, but Im not sure if they still do that or not. Also there is a Hobby shop in hollister which is right across the bridge that has some type of racing possibly slot cars?? Im not too sure, I just know they have a downstairs for some type of racing.

I'm surprised that there isn't much of anything, epecially crawling! All I could do as I road in the back of the van was drool at all of the rock formations! I have to admit that anymore I like that area than I do around here anymore too...................

There might be something, but ive never seen it. Theres a park right next to my house and I never see anyone with rc's down there. Someone did buy a hpi 5b from the hobbytown, but ive never seen it being driven. Its just a lot of old rich folk down here. No one likes to slow down and build anything
