whilst taking my Tforce axles apart to lock the diffs I found this grub screw on the side of the diffs housing...what does it do? I am hoping it locks the diff. but it may just be a fluid fill plug. there is nothing in the instruction manual about it either.

when you take out all the gears in the diff there is a pin that holds the diff shaft in the cup, to remove it your suppose to remove that set screw and slide the pin out through the hole...BUT you don't need to do that as the pin can be pulled out without removing the set screw.

if you screw it in too far it will contact the side gear and cause problems

well if you screw it in far enough it locks the diff...not really sure how well but the screwdriver in each outdrive and twist test didnt make the diff spin. so thats what I'm gonna try. thanks for the reply

You must know some magic that i'm not aware of. I had to take out the set screw to remove the shaft. Not enough room otherwise.

All you will end up with is a mangled diff cup and side gear. Get a locker and do it right.

I was just mocking him for saying to spend dough on a locker when JB weld works just as well

Well, I guess the locker is lighter. Because you know, we as crawlers are really battling with rotational inertia   :flipoff:

yea...the gyroscopic forces of my diffs are always causing trouble for me...creating a great deal of stability that isn't easily compensated for with your standard pistol grip radio.
