I was wondering if Krylon Fusion works on the outside of lexan bodies. I need an OD green, and the fusion has the perfect shade. I need to know ASAP. Thanks.

It worked great on a body I did but don't expect it to be magic and it will chip. allow 48 hours between coats

2 days!? Dang, painting this body will take all week. How many coats did you end up using?

as for the chipping, just paint the underside of the body too- that way if/when it chips- they are not as noticable.

48hrs between coats sounds like poppy cock. you want the paint to be dry to a tackiness before shooting another coat. but read the directions; and follow.

That's what they recommend and it worked. I think it's reapply within 1 hour of the first coat or you have to wait 48 hours if I recall.

the only ting i would be worried about is its ability to flex. just beacuse its made for plasitic doesnt mean it can handle the twisting and flexing that our bodies go through. Lexan paint is flat if you paint it on the out side. if you have a airbrush, even a cheapo wally word one, you can pick up some faskolor and make any color you want for about $3 a bottle"thumbsup"

lexan paint is not totally flat, well not the tamiya brand at least. here is a bronco i painted... you can see the cowl is still shiny (even though it was painted on the outside of the body) and the fender flares (also painted on the outside) are flat. I used flat paint on the flares.

I would like to go with the flat black look on one of my trucks, but I don't know how to get it to look flat

Krylon fusion paint sucks on lexan the first time you bend or smash the lexan body the crap flakes and falls right off i tried it:-(

the surface has to be sanded first... i did this with scotchbrite and pactra outlaw black.

Some real nice paint jobs in this thread. I have a link to a guy who has his own forums and paint photos, it's all he does. I would link but I don't know if we can linke top other forums here.

so it does not crack/flake if you sand the body and paint the outside?

You have to scuff the surface, not sand it. If you sand it the paint will soak in, showing every scratch in the surface. We use 3M scuff pads in the body shop to paint bugshields and ventshades when we replace them for customers. I would think a brilo pad or other potscrubber would work too though. Just make sure you clean the body and dry it well. Also SHAKE the crap out of the can, very few people shake them long enough, and after a minute or two, shake it again!
