I looked around and tryed to find a bit more info on the Goliath. I just saw one in the LHS. I think it would be a good beginner truck as some of you stated on here. I kinda thought some of the parts looked tiny but wanted to ask the pros what they thought of it. Has any one kept it mostly stock and had good success with it. It might be a better truck than the hi lift I was wanting. Thanks guys!

Search the forum for PTI Goliath. There are some who have them that love them. There is also a conversion kit for it you can get here.

Check under Monster truck/Chassis.
It's offroad prowess will be much better than the HiLift. I don't have their stock rock crawler version, but I know my own modified 12" wheelbase version is quite capable. But I can almost gaurantee that the next guy that posts up will tell you to get a TLT. I am almost willing to bet that same person hasn't driven a Goliath either.
Do some searching in the General Crawler forum for Goliath and it'll turn up all sorts of info.
EDIT: I am amazed that the first person to post didn't bash the Goliath! I'm shocked! :-P
Also, the above is kind of a whiney way of saying that I think the PTI Golaith doesn't get a fair shake around here...

Go for the goliath, It might be my next crawler, I got a tlt now, and its almost running.
And K_B alot of people like the goliath!
You just said that to prove me wrong! :)

I can't knock the Goliath cuz I haven't driven one. I actually was looking at getting one but I knew I was going to change out the chassis etc, so the initial cost of the Goliath was greater than the TLT. I think as far as a stock crawler the Goliath is a better bet than the TLT based on the posts I've come across.
This is kinda beating a dead horse, but I have a TLT with a P4 chassis and I don't notice any performance advantage of the TLT over my PTI with the stock chassis, although I do think I get less torque roll with the P4 due to it being wider and keeping the shocks positioned wider, perhaps. I know everyone likes the SW2 chassis so I'm hoping sometime in the future I can get my hands on one and see how that does on the TLT and run it against the PTI.

Thanks alot guys! Im just getting a bunch of info and then all of a sudden the LHS has the goliath and of course I get all excited and want it right away but figgered i would ask here first. I think it may become my new years project just for a change of pace!
I got two friends with goliaths and both have now broken diffs on axles after 10-15 crawling.

Web site that has ALOT of info: http://www.one18th.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=151
I have learned alot there. Reworked my goliath from that info. Added GD600 to it from there. Still seems a bit top heavy though.
