I will have to say that even with all the poo poo you have stirred, that I like the look of your rig,
If you narrowed the tires , and remounted your shocks more up and down, it would look really scale
but it looks good anywho!

i kinda like the tires that are on it myself.

twinforce

Is that steering damper something specific or just any short shock will do ? I am new to crawling so I appreciate any help . Thanks .

kingcobra
02-06-2005, 02:08 PM
its just a short shock with no spring...nothing special but try different weights of shock oil with the servo disconnected. try to get it as thick as possible without straining the servo.

kingcobra
03-08-2005, 05:46 PM
well...it doesn't have the bottom end torque of the kyosho standard motors but it has more top end...I'll try a smaller pinion on it and report back...

Its a nice design but I have to say that those wheels stick way too far out and that front bar looks rather stupid because it is also WAY too far out. shorten that up alot and maybe stand it up a bit and change the wheels and tires and you will have a sick scale looking truck. I love the stabilizers, great idea.

how about YOU build one like that and I'll keep MINE the way I like it. deal?

I kinda of like the wheel's adn I hate stingers and refuse to even build them for people but it look's close to scale to me.Here is my buddy's on his buggy.

I'd agree, that stinger needs to be redesigned. It sticks out way too far. I have a stinger myself, and found that it stuck out to far and got me stuck in situations where I would have to drop down into a hole and come back out. Yours looks like it will kill your approach angle. If you were to come up on the face of a rock wall, your stinger would stop you. This is just some constructive criticism, hope you don't take it the wrong way.

the stinger was designed to be FUNCTIONAL...not to make people go "ooooh, aaaahhhh thats pretty" it is just long enough to work properly and NO it doesn't hurt my approach angle at all. and I DO take advise when it is usefull...not when it's just "I don't like this and this and that about your rig...change them" if I did start changing everything about my rig other people didn't like then it wouldn't be very much what I like anymore. I agree it needs taller tires but my LHS has YET to get the new Imex's in so I use what is available. as far as being too wide it IS an R/C rig...sometimes function wins over form.

you have to take the good with the bad. I stick by my statement, the tires stick out too far and that stinger just looks really bad. I dont think Im telling you to change it but maybe someday you will wise up. There is no way that you can honestly say that stinger doesnt hurt your approach angle, I have a little stinger on my tube clod and even that hurts mine a little bit. Not all the time, but every now and then it does.

Oh and I did mention that I do like the steering shock setup. That was a good idea.

Well I drive it and if I thought it WAS getting in the way it would quickly be adjusted accordingly. and if the tires were any closer together they would hit the body on full flex...what am I supposed to do? raise the body? now that would look even more rediculous.

minitrucker
04-08-2005, 01:28 PM
cut a little more off the body or heres a better idea, limit flex a little.

SR5Dave
04-08-2005, 02:52 PM
limit flex a little.
That'd be my suggestion

kingcobra

how dare you!!! limit flex??? THATS A SIN!!! besides, it has limited flex as it is.

Okay, well heres a question for you. What lenght are those links? I like the scale look of the 2.2 tires on a maxx sized body. If i still had my clod Id do it to that but i have a twin so i have something else to work with now..thanks...

kingcobra

thank you for the info. i do like the way your truck looks..rather scale.

kingcobra

it's a compromise between scale and R\C...best of both worlds. and thank you

Just FYI; Comp rigs have become more competitive as they have gotten narrower. They can manuever better, find their way through gates better, and the sidehilling capabilities aren't comprimised that much :)

RSI

i think you should put a little bit bigger tires on it maybe all t's then it would look allot better i think the tires are to small for how wide the axles are....

but I know for a fact that my rig IS less prone to rollovers because it IS wider...if it was narrower I guarantee it would roll easier. and surely the taller tires won't help this matter. but I am still going to use the All T's when I can get my hands on some.

What I mean is in 1:1 comps they learned that the benefits of a narrow rig outweigh the benefits of a wide rig.
