Where to find bodies.

I have been trying to find a body for my 17 inch Pimpcane.

I have been looking at the HPI and Proline sites. All the ones that look like what you guys are running are 1/8 scale. I thought it was a 1/10 scale body that I would require. Can you chaps please confirm if you are running 1/8 scale bodies as I dont want to order something from America and find that it is wrong.

Yeah just type in 1/10 Body and doa search on Towerhobbies.com or go to your LHS to see what they Have. Hell I just bout 16 1/10th Bodies off this site last week. You can find them pretty easy. Try E-Bay aswell for good Used ones.

If you click on the link I posted it takes you to Adracing. For him to carry out the spraying I have to order from Proline or HPI. When I went to their websites all the bodies that I liked and what I thought you gentlemen used are 1/8 scale. That is what is confusing me.

Just make sure you don't pay for the paint that you won't use(areas that you will cut off).If you buy an already painted body,you don't have a choice but,if you're designing the paintjob yourself,keep that in mind.That guy does some very nice work.If you want to see more of his(and others) work,go to,

A couple bodies I've run that are ,I think,1:8 scale and fit a longer wb pretty ggod. One is the HPI Bronco and the other is a HPI newer model Dodge 4 door truck. I'll measure them later on and post the sizes. Raytard run a Bronco body on his cane but I can't remember what his WB was.

It is going to cost me around 160- 180 of your dollars to buy and have the body painted from Adracing. I therefore need to get the right body as if I dont it is all wasted money. I like the Proline Bushwacker. On some sites it says it is 1/8 scale. On Towerhobbies it is listed in 1/10 trucks. I just wish I could go to a hobby shop here in the UK and look at what I want.

Have you tried MODELSPORT here in the UK? They keep a good selection of bodies in stock, thay are all on their website.

Wheelbase wise the Bronco and Dodge truck I've got are 11 1/2"-12" wheelbase. From front to back though they measure right at 18". They should fit over your cane pretty good.

The easiest way to tell the difference between 1/10 and 1/8 is to search for T Maxx sized bodies. They are 1/10 scale. All the HPI bodies that fit the Savage are 1/10, the bodies that fit the LST and Revo 3.3 are about an inch longer and considered 1/8.
You can get a lot of new custom painted bodies on Ebay, just search toys and hobbies, then click radio control, and then type in custom painted in the search box. There is usually about 100 of them to choose from. ADRC's are really nice but Zielke Racing and FullThrottleRacing also have nice bodies and will also do custom work.

Personally,I think so,but you'll notice theres ALLOT of "scale" builds and even 2.2 rigs that run 1:8 scale bodies. Some 1:10 scale bodies are made for stadium trucks and racers in general. You'll notice the bodies in that category are fudged quite a bit to be more aerodynamic.

Take the Bronco for example. The Parma bronco is scaled after the newer version of the Bronco that was considered a full size. The HPI Bronco is scaled after the older(better looking IMHO) version of the Bronco that was a small rig. The older Bronco aren't full size,I consider them to be a small mid size rig.

That being said,the Parma,being 1:10 scale(after a full size truck) and the HPI being 1:8 scale after a small truck. Shouldn't the bodies be roughly the same size? I would think so. Last time I bought a body,they had both Bronco's at the hobby shop. Looked to me like the Parma would fit down inside the HPI.:lol:

I think if a guys going for a basher/crawler/comp rig,just find the body you like and make it fit. If a guys building scale,look around and see what bodies work for the scale you want. Use the surroundings in the pics to judge the size of things"thumbsup" and choose wisely8)
