Resizing pics

Resizing can be done many different ways, here is how I do it:

1. Open your .jpg picture, usually windows will default to Microsoft Photo Editor. My other computer uses Paint Shop Pro but it is the same procedure.
2. Click on "Image" on the header bar and then go to "resize" on the menu. See pic below.

3. In the resize window change the units to "pixels", check the box that is next to "smooth", and enter a value between 500 and 700 in the "width" box. The "height box will automatically change to maintain the aspect ratio. If the pic is taller than it is wide, then enter your value in the "height" box.
On some programs, you will need to make sure the box marked "maintain aspect ratio" is checked. Now click "OK".

4. There you go, click "file" on the header bar and "save as" on the menu if you want to save it under a different name. Doin this keeps the original pic unchanged for later use.

Or just use irfanview. You can batch the conversions.

Resize individual pics using a program such as Irfanview which is a free download from www.irfanview.com (less than 1Mb)

Ctrl -> R - and then this opens up the resize window. Resize the pic so that the biggest side is 600 pixels.

To save without overwriting the original pic file:

Ctrl -> S - Change the file name and save.

If you're a lowly Mac user like me :flipoff:
and have Photoshop, all you have to do is open up
Image/Image Size click on constrain proportions and select the percentage, pixels or size you want to change the pic too

Photo bucket works good too, pretty much the same procedure as what your doing "thumbsup"

Paint.NET (freeware "thumbsup") follows similar instructions as Photoshop:
Image Menu >> Resize... brings up a window where you can specify what dimensions you want the resulting image to be.

I wasn't paying attention to the date when I posted, but I would say I tried to breathe new life into some valuable info that may have gotten lost in the mix...

The Paint.NET software is fairly new, and may be a viable choice to people who are just getting into the forums - like myself.
