View Full Version : Wheely King tranny ?

Thinking about using one in a scale build.What is needed,gear box and motor plate?Or is there more besided the spur,pinion and yokes? I went to the HPI site looking for a manual but it isn't out yet.Form what I can see from JIA's Crawler King build all that I would need would be the box and plate.IF thats all thats needed then you could get a ready to run tranny for about $25.Of course I don't know the dimension but it seems like it would be a pretty good tranny.

Clarify what you're asking for me, and I'll try to help you out. I've got a wheely king here I can look at if it'll help you out - heck, I can even post pictures.

the WK tranny is very compact. we used the stock spur with it in jia's dads tuber. just needed to make a motor plate to rotate the motor down lower, but it can be used as is. i would get it complete with the spur if you can, just so you have the hub, etc., even if you want to change the gearing. the outdrives are standard 5mm i believe. the revo shafts fit like a glove

Right - I caught that. I think he was asking for dimensions or something though. I'm already trying to figure a way to turn the whole works on it's side, or do something different with the motor - it sets way up in the air.

WK uses 6mm output shafts just like the Revo. If someone started making a motor plate for it that clocked it, it would be a great trans...as is it is too long and makes the COG too high in most rigs.

i saw the new motor plate emaxxjeremy made for jia's dads scorp, pretty easy and gets the motor way down. dont remember if it was plate or angle but i got one and am thinking angle and also be trans mounts.

The motor plate/mount was flat aluminum similar to stock thickness. We cut off the mounting posts on one side of the tranny and rotated the motor 90 degrees to the tranny. With the tranny now mounted on it's side instead of up on end, the motor is mounted on the top right. This can be seen in the pics of the Dad's tuber thread. And thanks for everything Jeremy!!!
