W-K tranny question

I could just disassemble my crawler to find the answer but I think its an interesting question. While running my 2.2 W-K crawler I managed to bind the drivetrain and I heard an awful noise, kinda like gears stripping. Does the idler gear in the W-K tranny have a slipping feature? I have had it apart and noticed a spring between the pair of idler gears but I didnt put 2 and 2 together. Is it designed to slip in a bind situation? If not I need to look for the stripped gear! thanks!

I haven't looked into that slipper you are refering too either... but I'd check out the diff gears first. If they slipped, you'll see shavings in the case. Make sure they are shimmed up snug, with all the screws tight that hold the 2 halves together, but not so tight as to bind. When I added the 4x4 to mine, I didn't shim tight enough and mine slipped a little. Once shimmed, they stopped slipping. With the stock 27 turn motor, and a GD-600 set up at 3.8:1, I haven't heard anything else slip.

my stock wk diffs were slipping from day 1. i shimmed them and haven't had a problem since.
also,
i don't think there is a slipper feature on the wk tranny.
