i think most people are locking the diffs solid so its not really a problem

I think it has to do that there are the same part as the rs4 mt and the people who often stuck big blocks in those.

Locking the diff would accually put more stress on the ring and pinion. At least I think!?

I'm still running the stockers with no problems, but I haven't ran it much. Was going to upgrade it after I made a chassis for it and started modding it some more. "thumbsup"

This is the ring and pinion gear...not the spider gears inside the diffcup...so they take alot of stress in a crawler. My TLT diffs are pot metal and have held up so far when shimmed properly, but now that I just got a WK, I don't know how well the HPI ring and pinion gears hold up. Anybody else with some actual experience with these gears?

Crawlin Coles,

Have you locked your axle diffs yet?

Yeah they're locked up. I only had it on the rocks once, today at a WPAC GTG, and it rained. So I didn't get to run it much. I haven't shimmed anything yet either.

I'm running stock with no problems. Since the tranny seems to have a slipper built in (the loud clicking noise sometimes heard) there has been no breakage of gears in any of my rigs. YET!!! Still trying!!"thumbsup"

CrawlinColes,
Too bad you didn't get to run it a bit more today.

JIA's Dad,
Stock is probably no problem...I'm going to run it that way a few times before I change it all up. :) Probably going to use a locked Pede tranny with it for now, but the WK tranny looks pretty solid and like it has potential as long as its internal slipper doesn't go bad like the HPI Minizilla and Venom Mini Giant ones do.

Got a buddy who's been bashing jbweld locked stock axles front and rear.
No breakage and it's been hammered on.

Ahhh...thanks but dang that's still pricey. I'm going to see how the stockers last before I buy the HD gears.
