PTI problems fixed?

I am kinda falling in love with this truck and want more of a crawler than my pajero with redone rear end.

but.. the problem is I am not going to buy a truck that blows diff gears every other run. I have been hearing about the tolerances being tightened on the molds etc... Has anyone purchased and built a new PTI Rock crawler truck recently? if so how did the axles hold up? do you run into the cants locking out often or at all?

My diff's are fine, no problems for me (yet) but I've given her hell. canti's... I iiscrapped the stock ones and slapped revo cantis on her, so no probems there"thumbsup"

what turn motor do you run? i was planning on the 55 turn i have already

after I fixed mine from leaving teh e clip loose I havent have a problem and I have had the wheels bound so tight that the 55 turn stalled (mulitple times) I just need to add Gear reduction to mine and replace the cants

If you're running the stock transmission without a gear reduction the diffs will hold up fine. If you add a gear reduction to that, they will hold up... As long as you don't do anything stupid.

I ran about 3 packs through the truck in stock configuration and had no problems with the diffs, but wanted a little more torque, so I threw in a 2.9:1 gear reduction...

The stock torque test for my tlt was to put it up against the coffee table to see if it would move it... Tried the same test with the PTI and the gear reduction... The table just started to move... then "click click click". I stripped the rear diff.

Crap... at least tc3 diff gears are available at any decent hobby shop, and aren't super tough to replace. Also I will say that I was doing something stupid at the time, and think the gears will hold up quite well for normal crawling duties.
