I'm working on a trail rig - 12 inch wb, etc. - It's going to be good if I ever get some guts for my front axle!

if i keep it stock exept i lock the diffs and move the battrie pack will it be capable enough to say go through woods with deep ruts, mud, and rocks?

Stretched to 12" wb, reversed the chassis so the battery is in front, 96/16 gearing with swamp dawgs, locked diffs. Performs awesome.8)

I assume you have some sort of custom steering servo mount. Any links to pictures?

My WK works just great on the trails and the only modification was to move the battery to the front.

At first the battery was hung in front between the frame sides by using velcro. That worked very well but I'm old and fat and it was a problem to lean over and change the battery when needed.

Next I swapped the axles front to rear, moved the bellcrank to the other side of the tranny, turned the servo tray upside down, moved the RX to the new top of the servo, reversed the motor wires and unscrewed the steering pushrod from the bellcrank on the side of the tranny to the steering axle a few turns. That works almost as good as hanging the battery, almost because the battery is a bit higher when it's in the batt box which raises the center of gravity....but it is much easier and faster to change the battery. Just moving the battery made the WK a great trail truck and pretty good climber.

The wheels were swapped side to side so the tires funnel dirt toward the center. This gave it better traction and the best run times to date.

Next I put poster putty in the diffs to make limited slip differentials. Poster putty is the adhesive putty made to attach posters to the walls in classrooms. I got it at Dollar General, $1 for enough to do ten or more WK's. I'll try that on the trails and climbs today and update with the results.

Later this week I'll stretch the wheelbase. Tamiya axle stays are out of stock everywhere but I got some U shaped aluminum from Lowes or Builders Square. This stuff is flat on the sides and bottom, I'll attach it to the upper link ball and screw below it on the axle and use two individual upper links. The links will be 6-32 allthread from Lowes, the ball ends will be Traxxas no. 1942 ballends from the LHS. Tower has the 1942 ballends too. Got some T Maxx drive shafts, the yokes are a bit big for the the WK output yoke balls (the ones with the four rods sticking out the sides but they should work.

I also got a T Maxx lower A-arm to use as an upper link. This would allow the battery to be mounted on the upper link, thus lowering the center of gravity. Problem is that then the battery would be 'unsprung' weight and get beat up on the trail from shock. But it would be better for climbing.

Ordered an Integy 65T motor from Tower, it should be in this week. The stock 27T motor, power transistors on the esc and the battery all get hot during slow climbing. Hopw the 65T motor will reduce this.

I'll keep you posted on the results of each change.

Again the WK is a great trail truck with just the battery hung on the front between the frame sides.

I built mine to be a crawler, but it's more of a trail rig with all the speed and no torque!!

I'm switching things around to give it more grunt. Used the WK tranny as a transfer case and a GD 600 as the tranny. Even with a 65T it has mad wheelspeed. As is it's a fun little truck to drive.
