I recently joined this site after i got my new c3 i seen a guy crawling down by a crrek by my house and fell in love i had to get one so i traded a 2.5 maxx for this truck i love it and is a real monster and its a good startfor crawling i am told it has: locked f/r diffs, front axle mounted steering servo, super chicken, titan motors, traxxas evx
http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/3505/coldzilla0042.jpg
now i have some questions

1. what are better motors to run

2.if i get longer lnks will i get more articulation

3. what are some good shocks to run

4.is there a better way to mount my servo then on the axle it has flex on the mounting plate when your turning it has a cirruis servo

5. how do i get more run time i have like 5 min on one battery running motors in parrellel with the super rooster and if i use my evx i get about the same but twice as fast i want longer run times not to go really fast

can some one tell me how to make my pics smaller?

i know its a lot of questions but i love my crawler and it climbs everything but i have a few things i want to change i hope some one can help me

thank you brian

i think i did this right with the pics hopefully i can figure how to downsize them

1. what are better motors to run
Titans are really great for crawling, if they dont do it for you, run magnetic mayhems.

2.if i get longer lnks will i get more articulation
You have more than plenty articulation, If you can get one axle to 90 degrees, dont worry about any more. Longer links in your case will sort of net more flex, because you're increasing the length of the lever arm on your shocks, but again, you have PLENTY of articulation.

3. what are some good shocks to run
Personal prefrence. I dont even run shocks. The ones you have on there seem to work good. There really isn't much difference between them all, only length and spring rate differ.

4.is there a better way to mount my servo then on the axle it has flex on the mounting plate when your turning it has a cirruis servo My steering is set up like that, and it works great. Ensure everything is tightened down real good, otherwise look around on here for different steering setups.

5. how do i get more run time i have like 5 min on one battery running motors in parrellel with the super rooster and if i use my evx i get about the same but twice as fast i want longer run times not to go really fastGet bigger batteries or get smaller motors. The mag mayhems will probably do better. The titans are juice hogs. I reccomend http://www.amondotech.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=407 I have four of them, awesome batteries, great price, put out plenty of power.

Gotta agree with Dave on most of this stuff (I usually do :flipoff:  )
1. Magnetic Mayhems would be a good choice.
2. You have too much articulation already, call it good.
3. You can get some aluminum versions of those Maxx shocks, I find the plastic ones leak alot. But if you are not having any problems they should werk good for a while.
4. Here is my servo mount:
http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/7813/05160030.jpg

They are inspired by Mudcow's mount. http://www.mudcow.com/Page%204.htm
Very rigid, I dont run a servo saver and I get no flex out of it. However the mounting you and Dave have is great because the servo does not get mashed on the rocks. Sorry but I dont have knowledge on how to improve your mount. Look closely at pics of Daves.
5. Get some 9 tooth pinion gears in there and run times will improve. I get good run times out of my Dynamite 2000mAh packs but my 3000mAh packs are the best.
6. Smaller pics, Dave gave you the link but here it is again http://www.rccrawler.com/postt822.html

Good to have you on the board, read up, enjoy, ask more questions.
Looks like you got a good truck to start with. 8) :D

thanks for the advice i am new to crawling and i seen some of the other trucks and thought mine was lacking but i guess its not and i tried making the pics smaller but i am not very computer smart i tried to find the jpeg thing but dont know were it is i know i am a dummy but i will continue to figure this out

is it necasary to have 4 wheel steering ? does it help out alot or? well i just ordered some mag mayems and what are good servos to use i have clod wheels and tires the rubber was cut i think for better grip? what kind of tires do you all run i know i ask a lot of ? but i am so hooked into this truck is it better two run one battery and motors parrellel with the super chicken or is it better to run two batterys threw a evx i just want longer run times then 5 min i have 3300 gp match and zapped packs i get like maybe 7-10 min i know theres something wrong with that i should get more and my brushes are new

thanks for the advice

I like the 14.4V EVX for the power and that its bullet proof. From what it sounds like you may want to go with mag mayhems, and a super rooster w/ just one battery.

The jpegs are the pictures your posted on here.

4 wheel steering will come in handy maybe 5% of the time. Otherwise its just kinda neat.

Gotta agree with Dave on most of this stuff (I usually do :flipoff:  )
 very true. 16ga rocks :D

And, my steering is a pretty hack job, but works really good. So I think what his problem is, is that its not tight enough, maybe that upper axle brace isnt as tight as it should be, or some other stuff.

Just to state it again, Titans are meant to be run on the EVX only, they draw SO many amps and need 14.4V to work properly, otherwise they'll run low RPM and really inneficciently. Changing to a more standard motor will help.

I have some recommendations.

First flip your steering knuckles (black cylinders attached to the end of the axles that the steering links are mounted to). Just swap sides. Then mount your servo directly on the black axle tube brace. Get rid of that plate. Then mount your tierod (the longer steering rod) on top of the knuckle arm. You'll have to come up with a new steering link from the servo to the knuckle arm. It will be short, so 2 ballends screwed into a piece of threaded rod should work. That will give you more clearance under the tierod and get rid of the flex.

I feel your love for crawlers, I went through the t-maxx, e-maxx and thrill of doing doughnuts on pavement with the 24-7 x-factor. Hope you build something cool for all of us to ooo and aaahhh over. Crawling is as fun!

alright i got this pic done now if i can figure out how to do it right the first time :flipoff: the computer ! but i am gonna secure my servo better i will probably get better response then i hooked up the 4 wheel steering to see how if i t worked better for me and not really like it was said earlier just looks cool i was wondering what kind and were i could get body mounts

so running the mayhems and one battery with the super will increase my run times? i will try that !

is there any way to run to batterys maybe in parrelle or series and extend my battery time or is that possible like run 12 cells at 7.2 with a super rooster?

you guys are awesome for answering my questions

Depends if they are in series or paralel. I believe you want series (but its been a LONG time since I took phyz....) One will increase your run time using only 3.6V from each pack, the other will romp on each pack for all that its worth, giving you a ton of power and no run time.

Dual battery packs in parallel, 12 cells at 7.2V, will double the run time. The superrooster can handle this no problem.

Dual battery packs in series will double the power. Caution though. You can not run 12 cells in series (14.4V) into the superrooster. It can only handle 10cells (12V). Use the EVX if you wanna do this.

Hate to disagree, but the super rooster will handle 12 cells,'but' they say the warranty is void if you use more than 10.
Here the wiring diagram for the Super Rooster.

I remembered our conversation but that's why I suggested 10, didnt want someone blaming me if their ESC blows up.
It's ok with me if they blame you though.
