That's pretty cool Keith, I'ld like to see some of you guys out on the "westside" agian! Casparis is a decent place to crawl, one of my fav's. There's nice large rock formations similiar to Sam Lewis, just not as clean. Alot of trails for 1:1 wheeling too. And it's easy to find from my shop. If you're coming LMK if you need directions.

Tom,
I would suggest the Wheeling one (Yorkville, OH) It is on the OH side of the river from Wheeling. It would be closer to you guys. Just shoot up 77 and across 70 and you are there.

DRCMAN

Are we meeting up at the shop so we all are on the same page?

These are the directions from the GTG:

It is easy for you...Just get on Toll 66 toward New Stanton...Get off at 70W (New Stanton). Get on 70W for about 100 feet then get off the New Stanton Exit (I think it is Exit 57). Top of ramp make Left Turn go over 70 and make second right. The shop it down there near the Pharmacy.

If there are directions from the shop to the comp spot please post up :)

Also should this thread be put in the competition forum ?

really you can just stay on toll road 66 till its turns into rt. 119 stay on 119 till you get to connellsville you will see a advanced auto and a sunoco on the other side of the road there it a turn lane there make the turn past the car dealership "tristar dodge" stay on that road for about 2-3 miles maybe more you will get to a intersection at the end of the road you will want to turn left up the hill and drive down the dirt road past the last house on your right you will see a rock formation thats where the comp is park where ever there is room some people might be there already i plan on being there early i only live 20 mins away

i kno there confusing but there better then map quest

What is it going to cost to enter?

I think it's $7 for non members and cheaper if you join.

Me and phatcrawler went up to Casparis and ran the 2.2 a little bit. Makin sure everything works! Hopefully I can run without breaking. We took a rake to clean up some leafs, but the rocks were pretty clear. I'm gonna try and make it up there agian before the comp.

If anybody needs directions: just take 119 South towards connellsville and get off at Pgh St. Follow Pgh St. all the way out to the end of the road then turned left. Follow that road to the dirt road and your there. If that's confusing just let me know or PM. I don't know an address to use for mapquest.

I have one of the Moped V16Rs that one of the vendors on here sells.

It is brand new , has Tamiya battery connector and bullet connectors for the motor.

You can have it for $25.00 since I'll probably never use it. We should be able to fit it anywhere since it's only 1" square.

The BEC is 5v, which is what you want.
Click for thread with info and specs. (http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25313&highlight=moped)

I'll bring it with me if you want it.

Kodiakman - It is a straight shot for us down the 66 Toll Road. Like they said, there is an Advance Auto on the left and you turn left onto Pittsburgh street.

You follow straight through the main street of a small town. At the end of the road you can only turn left or right...right is a Sportsmans or Rifle club so go left.

The road turns into a dirt road...you'll see cars parked on the road. I'm not sure what time I'll be going, but if i do you can follow me.

Oh yeah,
Mascman - 2.2 Comp Class

OK, I survived Snowshoe, albiet not without some nice reminders of the trip unlike Lewis, hardon city is all I can say.

Coles...You have the table coming right? I have one if needed, it is just buried at the moment.

I have some chairs I will bring with us.

EVERYONE: Please have your rig ready to go when you show up. There will be no pre-running, testing, warm-ups, ect. until you have gone through tech. This is espically important for the 2.2s! I will be going over all entered vehicles to ensure compliance.

2.2s: Wheelbase, width, body size, and locked out rear steer will be points looked at.

Scalers: See above, however depending on how many show up there maybe other items added to make sure only true scalers are entered.

Supers: Body is the primary focus here, since they are...Supers!

For this first comp, everyone will run! You will get a chance to fix your truck and go back through tech if needed. Points will go to those trucks passing tech.

Given this is a comp, there will be a couple of things we will do to help make sure all trucks are scored accurately and correctly. I must ask all of you not to leave to do your own thing when the 2.2s are done. This has been happening a lot, and puts a lot of pressure on only a small group to run the supers effectively. But I will go into more detail at the comp.

John, or any of you married types...I need a small timer/stopwatch for this comp if anyone has one to bring. Thanks!

Here is what you should follow (from USRCCA):

• Vehicle must run a body that is 1/10th scale or larger. Body trimming is allowed but 70% of the original body must be retained. Legality of a body is to be determined by the event judges. Judging guidelines are as follows: 3” minimum height on sides. No more than 3” taken off total length. No less than 12.5” total length and full width, or no less then 5" in the center.

You follow straight through the main street of a small town. At the end of the road you can only turn left or right...right is a Sportsmans or Rifle club so go left.

The road turns into a dirt road...you'll see cars parked on the road.

Man,
I am soo sorry. We had to leave in 30 mins or get fined. I was so afraid that we were going to miss someone. It was 9:50 when we left and figured that with the drivers meeting and tech inspection at 9:30 that no one else was going to come.

I tried to think of who said they were coming. This was a rare occurance. I can guarantee that I will be at every comp. I, as the prez?, made the decision to leave.

I apologize immensely.

I will email you the roster...I thought that you had it.

Well Team,
What an interesting day. Started out great with some awesome courses laid out. Then came the White Ford with the threat of Fines. Had to pack up and go 20 mins where the banjos were playing and the sound of squealing pigs were heard off in the distance. That's when the Police came into the picture. "You can go down but don't leave your car here...if you do...not much will be left.
My first executive decision as Prez...Let's go to OhioPyle.

It all turned around after that...except when I let Bustedcrawler use my SW2 to take the class win. Will never do that again.

Here are some pics. There are more at PB if you are interested.

It was a great time.

With the rental SW2 I took first in 2.2, Lewis and the F350 were second, and SteveStock was 3rd. That is all I remember from 2.2s.

Supers, I was first, then SteveStock, and I think El Prez, I dont remember fully.

Good day all in all. We shoulda just went straight to Ohiopyle after being kicked out, oh well. John you know you want to just sell that SW2 or at least put it out on a full season rental, right? The super worked well, at least there. I am not sure how it will do at the dam, given its a full droop rig now but we will see!

I'm in the area, next to Kennywood Park, and would love to try and make the next comp. Along with a friend of mine. Anyone else near by?

I've been all over the area driving my truck and have found a few great spots. I like....

-South Park, there is a trail/creek I like going up and down. I like water.

-Ten mile run (might be a different name) but its on Commercial Ave, ajacent to Frick park under the Parkway East. There is plenty of rocks and water hazzards. Yes, more water.

-Ohio Pile, the natuarl water slide area. I went there towards the end of last summer a shot a little video.

I started the video out with a the thought of it being the future Pa crawling area. GUESS WHAT.......IT DID!!!

The prophecy came true. You guys did it!!

I'm sure this was probably discussed somewhere, but I can't find it.

Why no 4WS in 2.2's? The TLT is built for 4WS and in my opinion, it should be used to its full advantage.

Just wondering.....Thanks

Scalers, I can see the "no 4WS rule". All though some scale trucks do have 4WS.

What's the catch?

bustedcrawler
06-12-2007, 07:58 PM
NO 4ws in 2.2 is partly because 2.2 was a common scale class prior to the highlift coming out. It is also due in part of keeping the class simple, and challenging. The TLTs were a nice cheap option to a full on super, and keeping them with 2ws makes it more challenging for the drivers. Digs are outlawed, you can always do that route.

Personally I think 2.2s are more fun as 2ws "spec" class, opening up the rules would lessen the challenge in my opinion. But then again, I run 2ws for a very long time in the super class and did alright with it.

Just remember to compete at a WPAC comp, you need to comply with 07 USRCRC rules, there is a link above to them. 12.5" width and wheelbase, 70% body, and no rear steer. It would need to be fully locked out to pass tech. FYI, but for a simple GTG, run it as is!

Edit: I am curious as to why you feel the TLT is built for 4ws? Not tryin to flame, just honestly curious as to why you feel that way. I can honestly say I never felt my TXT was built for 4ws, so I am trying to see where you are coming from here.

The reason is that the axles are made for 4ws. You don't need to modify anything, add anything, buy anything special. Straight out of the box you can run 4ws. Stock kit comes with all the stuff you need.

All 4 knuckles were made to steer and attach to linkage.

If it wasn't made for 4ws, it would be a typical straight axle in the rear.

I know the rules. I understand what I need.

I could see if the truck had to be modified in someway to obtain 4ws, but it doesn't. Thats why I think if you are running TLT alxes, 4ws should be allowed or optional.

Especially since "dig" is allowed. If dig is allowed, so should 4ws. With dig, you are changing the steering of the truck, you're just not moving the rear wheels. Those wheels being locked up, does cause the truck to steer different. Essentially steering the truck or causing it to perform differently.

To sum it up, if the truck can run it out of the box, it should be allowed. Unlike dig, which is an un-natrual modification.

Just my 2 cents....."thumbsup"

I was down there today. I ran into Stick King. (I'm pretty thats what he said his SN was)

I was running my truck and he started to recruit me, but I was all ready in.

It was nice down there today, just a few people and plenty of room.

I always get the people that are amazed at what my truck can do. They start asking questions, taking pics, shooting a bit of vid. Kids really take a liking to it.

I assume you guys get the same reaction when you're out and about.

I also went down into town by the trail bridge and ran for a few. I could see it as a spot for the Supers, but not the 2.2's. Rocks are a bit too big.

Edit: Some of the chaulk marks were still there, I tried running thru them a few times. Good course!!

Oh, now I see. StIck KIng is sand bagging us. Actually me and the wife are going to take the Non Bowtie Car out on Saturday to Ohiopyle. I did some mods to the All-T's and think I fixed the problem. May throw it in the vette and try Saturday. I removed every other tread block. Seems to make the tires more flexible and now there is space between the tread to grab on. We will see. Hey there, i chatted with you once or twice via PM a while ago regarding the W.PA.C's. At that time i didn't have a complete rig but now it's done and i'm interested in hangin and crawlin with ya guys. Although my rig isn't comp-worthy due to it's size, it still crawls and keeps up with some of the smaller Rc spiders you guys got. Do you have other comps besides rock crawling, say bashing comps or anything like that? Here are a few picture of my complete rig:

Real easy...

Get on Toll 43 toward California, PA
Get off at Route 40 (Brownsville)
Follow that until the "T"
Turn Left and then at the light turn Right
Follow that through the business District
Enter 40 towards (Hopwood)
Take that past Laurel Caverns and look for signs for Ohiopyle

You can turn there or go further to 381...either will take you to the same place.

If you follow the Signs you will drive past Cucumber Falls. Stop there with the GF...she will love it. Then keep going on that until you come to an intersection with 381. The Natural Water Slide is where we were. (Parking lot straight ahead).

If you turn left at that stop sign it will take you to the bridge.

Park in the lot on the left before the bridge and go to the water.

Have fun.

Pack lots of water and hope that you don't have a convertible. My fivehead is burnt. For those that don't know what a five head is...it is a forehead slightly receding.
