The WK's out of control descents have been bothering me. Sometimes I could get a go-stop-go descent using the WK's reverse but mostly the reverse would not kick in when needed and then kick in way too strongly.

The Pede XL-5 esc has full braking and double pump reverse. It's like a Novak XRS I think.

It took a while to get used to driving with the XL-5 esc again but when I drove it right it gave good, nicely controlled descents. The braking can be strong enough to give the WK a head flip but the braking can also be modulated during the descent so you just have to be carefull on the trigger.

You can't "balance" the car very well with these double pump esc's but I can't do that with the stock HPI reverse-delay esc either. What a double pumper can give is control on descents and hey, that steering servo is 'the bumper' so I liked using the double pumper just fine today.

The Mamba Max is a great esc I can't have for a while but the XRS is a good esc I can have. I'll drive the XL-5 on the OP hillside trails and slick rock some before I bite the bullet and order an XRS.

lol I think our thoughts are the same about the XL-5, It's a huge improvment over the stock ESC!

The XRS is not a double pump reverse. And has no reverse delay.

Does the XRS have braking?

The XRS cant handle 7-cells? That sucks, it was starting to sound like a descent replacement for my reverse-delay plagued rebel II .
