i originally started this build back around Christmas time and had to stop for various reasons. it was a body that i got from ToysRus that was a low rider.

i went ahead and made a rolling chassis out of 3/8" cutting board with a 14" wb, since it was a 1/8 scale truck.

i had tried to extend the bed to match the 14" wb. that didn't work. before i even got it completed it bounced off the garage floor and busted into pieces. so that made me look at running a flat bed instead.

i finally got it all put together last week for the TXRCRCA GTG last weekend and got some good pics of it out on the rocks.

tlt axles
pede trany
mamba max and crawlmaster w/29t pinion & 87t spur ( Thanks, JRH)

narrowed dirt hawgs on 2.2 hpi superstars w/g-made wideners
big bore shocks w Lowes Springs
8 cell 4/5a pack (courtesy of Cheapbatterypacks)

i still need to add some stuff like lights, a winch, scale items for the bed. and i would like to eventually change the front bumper for one that is more trail worthy. Anyways, let me know what you think

I saw that same truck but the wheelbase looked too small. That is a great solution.

Good looking truck, need some better resolution pics though :D

I love the burnt orange color! But that would be pretty obvious!

thanks for the replies.

Eric, the truck worked great. i had some problems with one of the links ripping itself in two. but that should be easy to fix. and i have some torque twist, but that can be tuned out as well. i also had some problems with the brushless cogging. i have not even begun to look at the setup on it though. it's still factory settings.

DrPerez, don't tell my girl, she's an A&M fan.;-)

now for the questions, what would be the pros or cons of having the winch in the bed of the truck? would it be less useful there?

Why a winch in the bed ? Do you not have room up front.

yeah, it'll be a little cramped. it could be wedged in there but i think mostly it comes from the only trucks that i've ever had a winch on were work trucks. and they all had it on the flatbed. sorry, i had a deprived childhood. no 1:1 wheeling:-(
i guess in a perfect world i would like to have one on the front and back. (that just doesn't sound right )

That thing is pretty cool! i love how usually the best builds are very humble like this! it's usually you don't have a clue until the very last moment.
Excellent work!

Well if your use to it, and the front is cramped, I say go for the in-bed winch.

put it in the bed and route it up to the front with some brake line or somethin? oh and you definatley need to fix that chicken esc, but its a great performing truck. awesome build up man!
