I'm slightly lost?

I got a wk recently and I've been modifing it but when I look at the sticky that shows how to convert it to a crawler, I'm on a cople of things, like what about the steering rod? doesn't it need to be lengthened? and how do you cut the link then reattach it? appericiate the help if can.:)

You'll be much better off if you build a simple bracker to mount the servo directly to the axle.

Yes, put the servo on the axle for better steering and less linkage flex.
If you want to keep the scale look, just use some 4-40 or 6-32 threaded rod (Allthread) that you will cut the proper length.
4-40 can be found at your LHS and 6-32 at Home Depot in US or any hardware store.

you can make it out of angle 2"x2" just have to trim a lil off and mount it to the front and the "shelf" on top of the axle itself. there are alot of sevro mount forums on this subject

next question was the link that holds the suspension arms it says to cut them then just reattach then add a few washers to it? how do you cut the link then reattach it?

yes and no.

You do not lengthen the stock steering linkage, you make a new one out of 4-40 or 6-32 all-thread."thumbsup"

The piece you cut is the crossmember that is integrated to the stock links. You remove the stock links and that crossmember piece. Then you cut the crossmember in two places so that the links end up with just the little ball left in them. Then you reuse the center piece when you build new links.

Another option is to junk all that and slide a piece of all-thread through the whole chassis like I did:

^^ all u need to kno..or in other words u dont use the stock steering linkage u have to go to your lhs or hardware store and buy a piece of 4-40 or 6-32 threaded rod...

Go to the rest of Locked ups web page and look carefully at ALL the pics. Check other threads too, they all have valuable info in the pics. There are many ways to do different things with the WK, you'll find info to work with your budget. Surf some more brother:lol: You'll get there

His is 1 inch. Yours may be a different length depending on how you setup up your front upper/lower suspension links. My suggestion would be to get your suspension setup, then see how short the stock piece is and cut a new one based off that."thumbsup"


For the steering link the stock ends are fine. If you use 4-40 allthread to make your new extended link you may want to use a little CA glue in the end for a tight fit.
