Default After getting rained out at Falcon Hill...

After Steve and I gave up waiting out the rain at Falcon Hill I decided I was still going to do some RC. I have been wanting to go out and look around for possible G6 locations and after scouring Google maps and trying to keep in mind land ownership and accessibility I came up with a few spots to look at. One at Uno Rd, which is also the road to Picket Post trailhead. The trailhead is day use only but the surrounding area is Tonto National Forest and out of the Superstition Wilderness, so land use shouldn't be an issue. Uno Rd - Google Maps

There is a camp area, it's not huge but it's there. If nobody bring a huge trailer this time there should be room..

There was some rocks there too

Then I decided to go play on some other rocks on the other side of the hill
and had to try out the new winch and pull pal.

and from here these rocks are looking back towards the camp area, which is on the other side of the hill.

From here I decided to head up to Oak Flat Campground. I couldn't go too far behind the campground since there was a lot of mud and water and I was by myself. It is a free campground but no reservations are available so you'd have to hope enough spots were empty. Oak Flat Campground - Google Maps

Pulled into an empty spot here, there were only 3 campers there so finding a spot was easy.

Pretty gnarly in a few spots

One of my favorite things to drive. I love twisting it up in a wedge, and this was a long one.

There needs to be some more exploring done at both places. But I think there is potential here. My concerns are, there was a lot of bushes mixed in the rocks around the water at Oak flat but I really didn't venture too far to see if there were doable lines through them, and the camping area at Uno may be a little small to be spread out but still close. There is lots of areas to camp around there though.

Yeah, I've really put some time into keeping the white one as scale as possible. It's my class 1 rig ;)

Next month a few of us might go do some looking around and maybe a camp&crawl to get a better idea for the area.

We'll update as we start to make plans. Probably won't make a big thing out of it though.

I think most of us married guys will avoid a campout on Valentines weekend, I know it wouldn't fly in my casa.

This will be just a scouting trip, not the actual G6, so if the weekend doesnt work out for you it wont be a big deal. the G6 will probably be in april sometime

and of course katie aint happy bout it cuz she bought the new tent and air mattress(my tent is just a tarp, 2 broken fishing poles, and some paracord) and its only been used once.

i hope to have my bronco completely finished soon(had to ditch 4ws cuz katie got another wraith).
