Default A.S.T.R. Presents "Cry Me A River" the start of our 2015/2016 Scale Comp Series

This is the first comp of the 2015/2016 season. Some of you may have been here for the season final at the beginning of May or saw the video footage posted by our friends at National Hobbies. This is a killer spot and worth checking out.

Comp date and location: Payson, AZ Sunday Sept 27th

Link to the event on the A.S.T.R. Facebook page...https://www.facebook.com/events/8088...3A%5B%5D%7D%5D

Here is the map of the location... https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=U...4ed536245960ac

As usual the comp will roll like this...

We will be running three classes, each class will run 3 courses with an 8 minute time limit each:

Class-1 “Street"
• Description - A street legal off-road vehicle that you would drive to work or the trail head and outfit like an expedition vehicle such as the Camel Trophy truck D90 rigs.

Class-2 “Trail”
• Description - A stock vehicle that has been modified to become a capable trail rated rig and is not necessarily street legal.

Class-3 “Modified”
• Description - An off-road vehicle that you would build from the ground up and might see in a TTC/KOH type competition.

If you are unsure which class your truck belongs in please take a look at the SORRCA rules for clarification.

We will have a short drivers meeting @ 8:30 and will start the comp at 9am so please try to arrive early and have your scale points figured out in advance or they will not be added to your scores.

If you're new to the hobby and would like to join us, and maybe try your hand at a scale comp and hang out with other scale enthusiasts come on out, everyone is welcome.

If you would like to help set courses I will be on site by 7am.

Also we could use some help judging so if you are able to help let me know, it will help move things along and get us out of the heat.

Thanks and look forward to seeing you all Sunday September 27th.

Brian Muzzy

I'd like to see some guys start teaming up. If you could run in pairs and stagger your starts. It would allow a spotter to place your winch anchor and guide you through the course. This allows the judge to concentrate on judging and not so much on spotting. The stagger start will help the lines to keep you moving. When the next driver is on course you will time to unplug/plug-in.

I like that idea. gives you a better sense of realism.

I just re-read that, sounds like I used google translator or something lol. Typing on my phone has made me lazy for sure.
Anyways, the team approach worked really well for us at Nationals, I never felt rushed and things moved along pretty well. Winching is way better when you have someone that has both hands free to hook your anchor and place the winch buddy. Just make sure you both know the rules so you avoid a double winch penalty.

Guess I should pull my rig off the shelf and see if I need to fix anything...
I usually wait until saturday night when I'm charging batteries though.

I might be as ready as I'm going to get. Put the C1 tires back on the Bronco and re-installed the interior. Gave everything a shake, nothing seemed loose...should be good to go.
