Default New spot!

Well i think i found quite the spot to have a GTG or possibly comp. Its on lake degray, you take the Iron mountain road and its at the 1st boat landing on yoru right.

the ditch in the pictures is about 50 yards long of crawlable terrain, its all concrete cover rock that has endless lines with ledges, cracks, lots of traction, a walk bridge, even a pipe sticking out.

there is also a big place of natural rocks that dont have the traction of the concrete but are pretty good, there is a large ledge and TONs of smaller ledges that you cnat really see in the pictures.

then there is the section of broken concrete slabs, old conrete stairs, and larger rocks. very very fun section

Pictures will be in the following post, as i host them right now.

That spot might pan out. Good recon work.

That ditch looks like some mega sidehillin' and up's and down's gates.

well i dunno how to use any of the map sites to mark a point/location and then link a directions page to that spot but if anyone else can do it here is where its at on the map:

go to the intersection of hwy7 and skyline Dr then look down that road for the first parking lot on the right (its visable in ariel view).

on the other side of the big parking lots there is a killer spot for scalers with lots of slightly smaller ledges and big rock formations nothing that poses much of a challenge for a comp truck, but perfect for a scaler.

wait till you see what else i found about 100 yards from the parking lot! Ill see if my phone pics turned out good but im going back to get action shots tomorrow but trust me this pretty much seals the deal on how good of a spot this is (the main rock is about 80 feet by 40 feet by 15 feet tall!)

well two picstures turn out not so blurry, it was dark and i didnt have a tripod. this rock as awesome traction. This is just one of them and it wouldnt even fit in the picture there are atbout 6-8 of these things in the woods... (all within reasonable walking distance from the parking lot)

so who wants to come play now?

how big are the rocks in the newer pictures?

If you do go out there tomorrow. put your rig on the rocks so we can check out their size. Good work.

stupid cramera died 5 mins after i got there today.

the truck is in every picture except for 2 i think.

I also found even more stuff over near the parking lot kinda overwhelming, because i want to run in the ditch, then i want to go run on the rock, then on the old stairs and concrete, then on the shore rocks, then over on the ledges..... there is seriously TOO many places to run out there.

there is alot of pinestraw on most of the rock but its easliy swept off.

this area with the big rock and around it is good the other big lock formations were ruble mostly and not any good.

my camera is charging right now i might head back out there to burn a few packs a little later. and get a picture of the other new areas i ran at.

Thanks for finding this spot, Ross. I can tell for sure that we will be having a comp here. How is the park authority? Are they cool?

they have driven by me running out there every day it seems and just waived.... if you want ill go ask if they have a problem with more than a handful of us out there at once, i seriously doubt they will the land and areas these spots are at are not used by anyone (not on or near a swiming area)

I would avoid having a comp or GTG during the dead of summer as i suspect the parking alot will be FULL of cars/trailers because its a high traffic boat landing for the summer bunch of lake goers.
