Integy Carbon chassis
custom Delrin skid
custom carbon links
lexan electronics tray
aluminum upper link mounts
Big bore shocks w/ stock Axial shock shafts
Novak Crawler brushless
Hitec 5955
Spektrum DX3
2100 2s lipo

I was running Losi crawler tires and loved them. Once they wore out, I decided to try these Masher M3's and they aren't that great around here so I'm either going to try Moab M3's or go back to the Losi's.

Gotta love that body - do the tires rub when you articulate the front? Good job. I keep trying different tires also - and keep coming back to my losi crawlers - they just work.

Yea they rubb a little, but they dont grab anything and get bound up so I don't care. My suspension is setup pretty stiff anyway. I'm using 70wt oil in the right front and left rear, and 50wt in the left front and right rear with stock springs.

Do you know what your RTR weight is?

No arrow shafts. I am just using this carbon fiber tubing that my LHS had. I used it for the links, steering, and chassis braces too. I don't know what my RTR weight is, but I do have 4oz. stick on weighs on the left front wheel and 8oz. in the right front. I will find a scale and see what it is though. It really crawls awesome setup like this. I am running almost full foams. I have about 8 thin V's cut in them and they are narrowed to match the wheels, but that is it.

I have had quite a few 2.2's so far, and this one seems to be the most capable out of all of them yet with this setup.

I just ordered the black R2 with dig for this truck. I can't wait to try it out on here. Do you think a HS-81 MG will have enough power for dig? Also, where would I start at with gearing the Novak crawler kit with this tranny?

At first I was running the R2D with 6 cells, a 55t and a 12t pinion, and might have been a bit too much. Now I'm running it with 7 cells, and a 9t pinion and I could use a bit more wheel speed. I think 8 cells w/ the 9t should be just about right for me. I also lost a scoach when I switched to Losi Claws, being that their a tad smaller than the Rock Lizards and all.
I know your brushless, but hopefully that helps give you a starting point.

I'm using a 190oz servo for my dig. 190oz is enough....haha

I don't know what the reduction built into the R2D is, I've looked but not that hard. If anyone knows, do tell.

thanks guys. I didn't use anything special to mount the battery. It's just a Venon 2100 2s pack and I layed it on top of the front upper link's and zip tied it there. I haven't had a problem with it yet. If I do, I will make a lexan tray for it though.

I've also got a new set of wheels and tires to try. I got the Proline 8 hole beadlocks and Moab M3's for it. The wheels are chrome with a silver ring, but I'm going to strip the chrome and dye the wheels black.

I also decided to order a pair of black aluminum Knuckles and C-hubs for this rig. I only got them for the front because hopefully the I will get a straight axle in the rear very soon. I heard the new Axial rock racer comes with one, so I will probably order the housing for it when it ever comes out.
