Default Driveshaft repair?

I've read on here several times about the "weak" drive shaft on the AX-10. Well, I broke mine tonight. Yes, I was doing something stupid. The question is, do I just get the stock part for $7 or rig up something better? I'm just getting into RC so I don't have tons of spare parts laying around to come up with something on my own. What's the best route to go?

That looks just like the stock parts to me. What's different?

thoes are the traxxas shafts and metal yokes their alot stronger. my frien and i took the stock ones held all the wheels and gave it full throttle and the stock shafts didnt hold up long. we did the same with the traxxas set-up and stripped the spur gear.

yes but the stock yokes are a loose fit in the traxxas ones. I use the stock yokes and have no problem with it. but im going to be up grading to that set-up soon

The steel Traxxass yokes and pede shafts are a much better set up.

I've been running Jato shafts on my stock steel yokes for a while with pretty good results.

What makes the Traxxas drive shaft stronger? Sorry if this is too many questions. I just don't want to buy something that's not any better than I already have.

It's the ears on the shafts. The stock Axial shaft ears are LOOOOONG. That allows them to deflect/open up and pop off the steel yoke pins. A shorter ear won't deflect as much under power.

What's the diameter of the jato shafts? They look big. That may be the route I go though, unless I decide to go with the all metal punisher shafts.

The OD of the female side is right at the same as a Pede female side.....which in turn both are a touch smaller than the Axial shafts.

The Jatos fit loose on the stock yokes,BUT,the ears on the Jatos are itty bitty. Therefore theres very little room for them to deflect. The best is to run the Traxxass yokes and Pede or Jato shafts. You can run the Jatos on the stock yokes for a while though. I've had good luck with mine so far. I'd assume they'll start popping off when the holes get wallered out from the stock Axial yoke pins.

I've heard the Punishers wear quickly at the yokes and they become sloppy. I have no on hand experience with them though. I would like to try some just to see.

When I took mine out for the first time, the stock yoke popped off in under 60 secs. No joke. I wasn't pushing it at all. Just *pop* and it was dragging the rear end. I went to the traxxas pede shafts with yokes. works great. $40 is a little steep if it's one pair of yokes. I got them locally for $27. $47 for front and back.

$27 is still high you could get them from vendors here for about $20

I run stock T-Maxx driveshafts no steel. Drill a hole in the pinion shaft an tranny so you can run the stock T-Maxx pin threw it and they never break.
