Yes. It keeps them aligned with each other.

Anyone used these same materials for a stock axial DS? I see this origionally was for a pede. If it's the same sweet if not anyone have some sizes for me? for the nipple. I have it measured at 1/2" od on the female but thats my eyeball and a tape measure no mic or nothing. Thank

Done my build and did some testing, this dig works for the stock axial shafts, my advice get a good radio if i didn't have a dx3r that could adjust travel and all that it would not work...

other than that, build one of these they are cheap and work, plus no waiting for mail order parts as long as home hardware is open.

How do you engage the dig? Is there a servo? Or maybe one for the front and one for the rear? If so, how do you activate them with a regular transmitter? Can you elaborate on this? -Migs

That's pretty freakin' sweet. Beats buying a premade dig unit....and you get the "home built" awesomeness that goes with home fabricating. I like that!!!

great thread and wright up Definitely going to try to make one. Few questions though...

1) could you use copper or brass tubing vs. galvanized?

2) How big of a servo is needed? Im guessing nota huge one?

3) Would a TQ3 witha toggle switch work for the radio? (that was a total noob question, but hey, thats what i am )

well the servo disconnects the rear driveline so that way the rear axle is locked. the top male driveline on the rear still spins but it dont catch the female that is connected to the lower male that is on the rear axle. If the rear axle is locked it will not let the wheels spin. there is a nail that runs through all of it that holds it all in line.

i built one that is a little easyer to under stand. when i can post pictures i will put some up. i used 2 male's and 1 female and a old shock body.

at the end of the day, how much money and time do you have tied up in the units that you are building. Any advatage over the tranny's with dig in them.

a ton of advantage if you're doing any real rcrc and cost, if you already have a 3 chnl trans, then you're just purchasing another servo, the tranny a bec for the esc and some axle parts i think, about 250. but i could be wrong.
