I was pretty much just asking to see what people had into their homegrown dig setups and to see if a driveshaft disco like you guys are building is better than a trany disco.

I had $10 in mine plus the servo that you have to buy no matter what dig you get

As far as if they are better than a tranny dig... Austin Dunn still uses one and he's the biggest dog in the yard. (Gatekeeper) I liked mine better than the dig I have now (CKRC) and I felt it was more reliable

more reliable because you were just moving a sleave on the driveshaft instead of sun gears etc inside a tranny?

You aren't moving gears in a tranny with a tranny dig. There is an attachment that bolts off the tranny with it's own little driveshaft. the trucks driveshaft attaches to that. A servo seperates the little driveshaft from the tranny out-drive and pulls it back in to a slot that prevents it from turning.

A home made dig does the same thing, it just isn't attached to the tranny. Instead of pulling the driveshaft off the tranny out-drive, you are sliding a sleeve off the splines of the front half of a driveshaft to allow it to seperate from the rear.

More reliable because my tranny dig has brass bushings that wear out and it whittles down on my out-drive.

The sliding dig is simple and nothing wears out.

Has anyone dne this with the EDGE chassis? It looks like there would be interfierence with the rear of the chassis.

It does both free wheel and rear dig with 3 position switch.

Default Dig

Looks heavy and bulky and that it could snag very easily.

I want to lock it for tight turns like yours and make it front wheel drive only to go up steep climbs. maybe this is a stupid question.
like a 3 position switch 1st position locked 4wd, 2nd position front wheel drive, 3rd front wheel drive and locked rear axel?

Thanks for figuring out this idea and letting us use it.
This will do the 3 position if it's hard to make this dig in this Dig build thread?

Like the 3 position thing

So Frank! This is what we're going to make soon? ;)

Looks like an easy job, and I think my truck would be really nice with this!

Here's my homemade dig, but I did a transmission dig rather than a driveshaft dig:
