RCP Straight Axle Adapters

Has anyone noticed that when these are installed only 1 bearing can be used and you get a lot of slack in the wheel? Looks like the straight axles would be needed to resist the extended wear and tear factor.

If you want to run the stock parts add a small piece of fuel tubing in the outer axle cup. This will force the stub axle into the bearing eliminating slop. Even with the 2 bearings the slop would still be there.

Thanks, I'll give that a try

aren't the axle adaptors and straight axles made to be used in conjuntion with each other? Why would you use the adaptors with the stock doggies and cups?

Panchira! 01-28-2008 10:05 PM

i have the stright axles and adapers and there is zero slop none at all.

RCP AX10 black anodized straight axle adaptors (1 pair). The best way to lock out your rear axle without linkage. Great performance and great look for scale rigs. Can be used with stock axles and bearings.

Can be used with stock axles and bearings.

But after just 1 battery ,you will find alluminum debri inside. The stock axles rub BADLY.:-( Being a machinist,I must say your guy's parts are top notch in fit and finnish. In my opinion your should give a guy some kind of warning to also use the straight axles with the lockouts.I made a set,and can say with the straight axles there is NO slop in the rear end at all."thumbsup"Again you guys do top notch work and have the best shipping ever.A little warning on this issue would be nice for other customers. And where's my stickers???? How are we supposed to represent ??:lol: RCP ROCKS !!

The parts function perfectly, just buy the straight axles. I am in NO way saying the parts don't work, just saying buy the straight axles with the lockouts. "thumbsup"

Well, I ran for about 20 minutes today (still waiting on the RCP straight axles). I pulled the straight axles adapters off and here is what I saw. The adpaters have a worn spot (cannot see in the pics to well) about 1/8" or so where the end of the axle cup ride. I cannot believe that RCP would sell these and not strongly advise that the straight axles are required to prevent excessive wear.

Steel rubbing against aluminum.....common sence tells me the steels gonna eat the aluminum. A steel diff shim or thin steel washer would solve that"thumbsup"

I install twoo bearins on each side of mine. One in the bearing cup of the axle and another in the aluminum peice from rcp. No slop and works great.

The axle is fine. The slop is the stub axle. There is only room for the smaller bearing on the stub axle shaft.

Mine did that while I impatiently ran it without the SS straight axles.

Installed SS Straight axles now and its all good :)

They normally don't.....I just requested some. I think all vendors should include some with orders over $50.
