Default Crawler n00b Scorpion

Finally got myself a crawler. I hate fabbing, so never managed to complete a TLT based crawler, so here's the AX10.

Stock for now
Novak fifty-five
Novak super rooster
TCS 8 cell nimh saddle pack
cheap Futaba radio

Coming as soon as I have time to work on the truck:
TCS delrin boomerang rear and front servo mount
Different springs, stock ones waaay too stiff
HPI Rubicon body
Maybe a TCS delrin skid to in-board the links.
Possibly semi-droop or droop setup, wanna drive it sprung for a while though...

Didn't think the paint was too bad for a guy that hates painting(I'm a one coat, one color kind of guy....)

I'm a fan of running it stock then making the modifications myself. You never know what you've improved if you just go and put a setup on it right out of the box.

Looks good...cut them zip ties down though.

yeah, just a temporary solution there. I'm gonna pull the TCS battery plates off and drill some holes in the stock batt straps and remount the plates.

you know, if you didnt hate fabbing so much you could make your own servo mount, skidplate, and rear upper 4 link mount.. i made mine out of delrin for under ten bucks

Haha..... too late yote. Already bought the plates from TCS, just need to get them on there.... But seriously, I hate buildin' stuff. I'd rather be drivin' Plus, I suck at it! (building/fabbing). No patience.....

you need to get some super soft springs on the front asap also, did you put the spacers under the piston

Yup, spacers under the pistons from the start. Needs softer springs though. Wanna get some Axial reds or whites soon.

Default Slowly starting mods...

Ok, installed some Axial Whites in front and the TCS Boomerang(delrin) in the rear. I thinki Torque twist increased with this setup. I'm thinking it may be due to softer springs in front.... thoughts? I am running the boomerang as suggested with 1 link above and 1 below...Here's a pic of the Boomerang.

did you mount the links correct on the tcs boom, maybe change which one is top and which one is bottom? cause i hear that lowers alot of torque twist, and the fronts really shouldent affect the torque twist. if/when you get the tcs skid and inboard the links, u wont have near as much torque twist. at least when i inboarded mine i didnt.

Someone correct me if I goofed, but I believe I mounted the rear link as per the tip on TCS's site. Here's some pics of it on top of my currently lame sized rock pile.

You mounted them correctly.

I did the same thing, went with the TCS 4link frnt/rear and went bent links and moved the lowers inside the chassis. Also put super soft springs in front. As soon as i did i got NO flex,it was binding..so i moved both links to the underside of the mount, but now i have a ton of torque twist.Ended up putting all the stock springs back on, now theres less twist, but not gone.

Got most of the torque twist out of it now. I'm running Axial white's(soft) in front, Green's(medium) in the rear. Put 2 of the large preload spacers on the left rear(may just put the stock blue spring back in there) and added 1.5 oz lead to the front wheels. Most of the twist is history now, and I like how the little extra weight plants the front end without taxing the driveline. Though, it does seem a bit noisier now, even with that small amount of weight.
