Default first 2.2 tuber

Well i finally decided to build my first 2.2 crawler.
AX-10
home made chassis
losi rock claws
hitec 645mg servo

All i need to do now is build some sort of dig setup.
This truck is actually for my son but i like how it works so i guess dad gets one to in a couple of weeks.
I did not spend a ton of time on the chassis so its not perfect but it was more of a test to see if i could build a 2.2 more than anything. Now i know i can make one work i will spend a little more time on the next one.

I like how you mounted the shocks to the frame. Did you fab those little brackets or were they premade from something? How about a close up pic of those. What shocks are those as well?

The shocks are hot bodies. I cut the end off the cap that takes the shoulder bolt and drilled the cap and put a traxxas rod end on it with a screw.( I got that idea from BADD.
The peices i used for shock mounts are half links for a chain. You can find them at Lowes or hardware store of that type. I picked that idea up from Kamikaze. He uses it for the link mounts on hia super.

I like it!! A lot!! If you decide to build another and want to sell it, please let me know! I really like the edge, but actually rather prefer your design with the wider roof.

Just wondering if you intend to mount the lower links on the inside??

I do plan on moving the lower links to the inside and using a set of bent links.

Yes it is similar to the edge at least the lower half. It was the quickest and easiest way to mount the links. All it took was the stock side plate,a marker, the plasma cutter, and about 3 minutes. In other words i am lazy.
To tell you the truth I'm personally a fan of the vertical side plate. It allows you to drill several holes so you can make link adjustments and not sticking you with just one setup.

Jeff i will get down there before to long.

The way i have this thing setup it does not have a ton of flex and i really like the way it works. I will see if i can get some sort of short video up before long.

Well after a few hours of running with Kamikaze over the weekend i new i had to make a few changes.
First with all the hard break over stuff he likes to run i found out i needed to go from 12 in WB to 12.5.
I also needed to gain some more ground clearence. I went from 2 1/4 in up to 2 3/4.I may go from droop to conventional shocks and springs and go up another half inch with the ride height not sure yet.
I also 4-linked the front.
The biggest thing i did to help the truck was to add almost 2lbs.
I also changed from a 55T motor to a 65T and a mamba max.
Here are a few pics .
This is my sons truck so the only other thing i need to do is add a set of high clearence links.

Well i must say this truck worked well at the SERCRC comp yesterday.

My 8 year old son competed in the 2.2 class with it running without dig and was able to pull off a 8th place finish.
The truck really works well for him.
He has to be the best 8 year old rc crawler there is.

I hope to have a dig setup in this truck before the next comp. to see just how well he does and the truck.
