Default NEW!! My AX10 project and my EDGE tube frame WITH LIGHTS!!

Hi All I am really new to Crawling and new to this website.
My Name is Brian and I from New England and have been looking here for some time now.
So I figured It was time to post something that I have been working on.
Let me know what you think.

It is a project in progress.

Also I have ordered a few of the new style upper link mounts as well as new servo's and still going to be buying some more upgrades as time goes on. Like Lipo's and charger, new reciever, beadlocks, tires.....

Here is my original set up and my 1st ever custom made battery pack to fit over front axles. As well as my home made roll cage and my old RC body with my custom USAF paint theme. haha

Started some detail on my Ax10 boddy

So thats what I have done so Far.
I am wairing on a metal shear / brake combo that my g/f's mom bought me for my bday so I can make all my own custom side panels from aluminum.

Also this thing has some nasty articulation huh!? haha
Took me a while to set it up like that and I just hope it works good in the rocks.
I have yet to try my ax10 in the rocks at all. :-(
I bought it in the winter so there is no rocks yet haha. soon very soon.

i really like that grill material you used on the roof. what is that? you are going to want to limit your articulation alot. the max you'd want is like 70 degrees. even then that is quite a bit.

yeh limit your articulation severly, mine was like that and would just dig its self into a problem, twist itsself into a pretzel!! but hey good luck

Yeah I had a feeling the thing would get twisted when I take it out the 1st time.
And I know that I will be doing a lot of work to it still.
The metal on the roof was just some scrap metal from my work.
It was from a Hard Drive Filler slot cover.
Cut it and grinded it made it fit, Might use it may not.

Also I have the rubber bumpers that came on the shocks to use on the outside.
and I put them on the inside and the reduced my Articulation, so I took them out. haha.
So your saying I should probably still want to put them back in huh.?

Also I have the shocks mounted on the inside with a few washers because without the washers when i would twist the chassis my shock tops would pop off?
Probably because there as too much articulation huuh?

A quick question about the shocks as well. I bought the shock kit from TCS and it came with some internal springs. So that is what I have installed.
It is sitting like high up like it normaly would. but i saw a sweet one just like mine on youtube and it was sitting really low. Almost like he had no springs inside and he said he was running 30% oil.
is that a good thing to do? no internal or external springs and just run a little oil?

Thanks for looking.
and thanks for answering any of my questions.

Use some nitro fuel tubing on the shock shafts inside your shock to limit the travel, I will put about 1/2" to 3/4" on the inside of each shock. Put the spring TCS gave you on the inside under the shock piston so the spring is pulled back into the shock shaft instead of pushed out (it's called a droop suspension). This will lower your center of gravity a lot and and it's what the Edge chassis was designed for so it handle better on the rocks.

A good crawler is all about low center of gravity not 90* of flex. Limit some of that flex and get your weight as low as possible and you'll be better off.

there's no point in the lower spacer. the compressed spring acts as a limiter.

True that on the lower spacer bushing, wasnt thinking that. just saw a pic of someone elses like that on here and figured i would try it. well now there is a spacer in all of mine haha so i am just going to leave it in there. Unless I get a set of 4 softer inside springs?
in a droop is it better to go soft or stiff? hmm. well I have the medium ones in there now.

Here is a current pic. Just finished installing all the shocks again.
Much better and Lower center of gravity now that I have the springs in there right.

Also you can see that my articulation is much less now. so this is the most it will twist now before lifting the rear tires This is waht all you said to do right haha :O)
Think I like it better this way as well. I was looking on youtube and a few kids have way to much articulation and it was causing the rear end to not be very cooperative.

Here is some of the image designs I decided to play with just for fun.
I think I am going to do something else I just thought it looked cool all green.
I just used Paint brush and fooled around with TCS's designs.

Currently I am waiting for my 2 more Bent links to come in the mail as well as the upper link mounts.

Comments welcome.
can't wait to finish this and get to crawling.

About the articulation; you just have to try different setups on the places you will be driving and see what works. Also, your driving stlye will affect how you will wnat your truck set up.

got my bent links in as well as the upper link mounts.

just playin garound with my extra green spacers, I still have to look back onto TCS and see how to mount the links to try to eliminate the torque steer.
