Default Pinion installs that way? Really?

Maybe I was drinking too much last night, but I believe the instructions for installing the pinion seem wrong? Is it supposed to go in that direction? It looks like the set screw would interfere with the spur. Anybody have a close up pic? I was setting mine up last and thought I was going nuts

The picture in the directions has it backwards. The set screw should be against the motor, not at the end of the shaft.

I ran into the same problem when I installed my motor. I got it mounted up just like the picture but the wheels would not turn. Fliped the pinion around and everything worked.

It goes whichever way works the best for whatever motor you have. Thats the way it goes.

I've use it in both directions and both ways worked fine... setscrew to the outside is an old racers trick to remove the pinion without moving the motor. so theres no wrong or right its whatever works for your setup

True...the instructions say to install with setscrew away from the motor.

Although this worked for me..there were a few instances in which i could hear a faint ticking from the setscrew slightly hitting the spur gear.

I did however reverse the pinion so that the setscrew is closest to the motor. It makes if harder to get to the setscrew but this eliminated the tick.

Now im climbing everything in the apartment...cant wait for my buddy to get his so we can hit some real rocks.

I know my girl will be happy since i'll stop making obstacle courses out of laundry, boxes, sofa cushions and shoes.

Wow this urban crawling is crazy!!!
