Default back flip tips for ax-10

my current 2.2 comp with 3inch belly clearance has a really hard time starting a steep climb. once the back tires make it past the change from flat to the vertical climb it will go up it no problem. but trying to make it pass that point is very hard and 99% of the time it will flip backwards. i run +4oz in the front vs the rear. have added weight to the front. move the batteries around and if anything it only makes it worse. any ideas? i like my ride height were it is at. i have bb's now along with weights in the wheels. will a springs rate change or switching to foams help?

I know you like your ride height, but try making your rear lower links flat. Just try it.

my current idea is yellow springs and remove a coil. will drop it a .25 inch and will be very close to the fact shock rate.

Put the battery on the upper front links behind the servo.

My thoughts:
-move the rear shocks as far outboard on the axle as possible
-move the rear lower links to where your shocks are now on the axle
-get a TCS boomerang so you can 4 link it, then mount the uppers on the outside of the chassis. Mount the right side under the plate, left side above the plate in the rear, opposite in front.
-rear links horizontal to the ground, front can ride higher.
-batt on top of the front links behind the servo
-fine tune instant center/antisquat% by playing with upper link length. Just play with it.

Most of those things are going to help with torque twist more than climing ability. The main thing with climbing is where your squat/antisquat values are, and where your instant center is (the two are related)

Disclaimer: This is what I would do, and I like the way my rig drives setup like that. It usually isn't so hard to try different stuff. Your terrain may demand different setup, your driving style may require different setup.

I agree, just start playing around with your setup. Try to get everything heavy as low as possible too. That's why we made the standup servo mount for TLT's. That way you can get the weight as low on the axle as possible. I've been messing with my comp rig since day one and still tweaking my setup every now and then.

soft springs in the rear will make the back want to suck under the truck...

When I was running a little over 2" belly clearance I could climb almost anything, except I would get hung up on little ledges and such. Sometimes you need to make sacrafices depending on your cource.
Oh yes do not soften the rear springs. whites up front, one yellow right rear and, one red left rear.

i have 2 3/4in at the belly and i can climb most verts. im running stock blue springs in the rear and red up front, then i got a large preload spacer on the left rear and small preload spacer right rear. then i have 7oz of lead weight in both front tires and none in the rear. we are going to try 5oz in each front and 3oz in each rear and see if it helps at all, but im happy with my tuck all in alll just got to fine tune...

it easy enough to change the springs out i have a set of each. what do you think of cutting a coil out of the shock to drop the height. from 3 to 2.75?

just stuck whites in the front, yellow in the right rear and i have to leave a white for now in the left rear. tcs is out of reds. waiting on them to come in. also i stuck red kreepys up front with 6oz weight and pinks out back with no weight. front total tire weight for each is 11 5/8 oz and the rears are 8 3/8 oz. tires.wheels and foams. i also have 3 oz taped to the front axel and both of my lipo battes on top of the servo.

i agree it has a lot to do with spring rates. i have been tweeking my ride with different springs for a while now. finally found a set up that is working very good. i am using hot racing aluminum shocks frnt/bck , with 30 wt. front 40 wt. rear. silver super soft hot racing springs up front with axial mediums in the rear. i put 5/8 spacers in the shocks made from fuel line. which dropped my ride height to just under 3".and the split battery pack on the axles, which made a huge difference.

put the battery lower ,next to the servo . you have to move servo over .
theres a mount for doing this , or build it yourself

mother is the necessity of all invention;)
