Yea same thought. I believe it would be a whole lot easier to install especially if you do the link mod on the home page.

I mounted my R2D servo to the underside of the stock radio plate. Nice & strait, works great.

I bet you could use the same method for that setup

I think it's very nice it might even be lighter than the VF dig.

Well for one, that isn't an RC4WD transmission, and the R2D is.

I just kind of like the thought of having everything sealed up inside, like the vf dig. Hard to tell in that picture though. Good effort though.

I have a VF dig system on order, and I can't wait to used it. This unit at half the price this system will get some customers. I may have to get one for my "other" rig

Yeah, but considering that the VF system is only weighing in at 2oz with servo mount (due in part to the all aluminum design i'm sure) plus it uses a micro servo that only weighs 1oz you probably come out around the same weight with the TCS dig and the full size metal gear servo it requires.

I dont think there will be much of a price difference after you factor in the links and servo mount (included in the VF kit) and the fairly expensive full size metal gear servo that the rc4wd unit needs. Most people I know run a really high torque servo on their r2d to get it to relase under a bind and those suckers can cost upwards of $100, the VF runs a hitec MG-225 that costs only $23. Plus the performance advantages of the VF dig that you get. Mabye i'm just partial because I'm running a VF and love it.

if you think you need to run a $100 servo to operate your r2d then you really need to rethink your linkage setup. a hitec 645mg is PLENTY.

as for this dig setup, it looks good... nice adaptation of shelf parts on RC4WD's end, that should help keep costs down and replacement parts readily available.

also nice to have a choice. I will stick with the VF for now.

It looks good, but I really like the VF's clean enclosed design with servo mount included and feel thats well worth paying 25.00 more

So you're saying that I should take my DS8711 off my R2D dig with perfectly straight and flat linkage? I like to be able to hear it "slam" into engagement, let's me know it's working, everytime. Probably overkill, but that's the way I build things.

I designed this system months ago, the adapter plate and center spool half that is required. The rest is the standard disconnect from RC4WD.

I run the VF dig in my personal comp rig currently. This is at a different price point and is just another option for all you crawlers.

As far as the Rocksmith bushings, they should work perfectly in this systems as well.

**Edit**
P.S. I use a super cheap futaba servo on my R2D and it has always worked great.

Looks ok but I will agree the fully enclosed vf looks nicer... and it would be nice to get a few more closer up pics of this one.... also wanna see it in action like from a bind and free wheeling!
