I thought of that a while back but I wondered if mud and rocks would be thrown into the spur gear, then i saw the mirror mod and thought it might be better for me. If you don't run in that stuff flippin it might be better thou.

Well, it's definitely not the end all, cure all modification.

Little help here, little help there to do what we can to get these trucks working better.

it 'helps' (doesnt cure) with torque twist, the motor is closer to the right front tire.

Which puts more weight on the side that tends to lift.

Ta da!

you should upgrade to a narrower chassis and it will hang off the side even further

No. To run a Vanquish dig, you will just have to turn the transmission around so the spur gear is in the front. The motor will still end up on the right side, but it won't be a mirrored setup.

So what does "mirroring" do?

Just because you can do it does help anything?

First page has some details, incase you didn't read anything, I'll quote myself.

It's a freebie tweak that helps a little bit.

just did the mod, definitely cut down on the forwards torque twist, but the reverse torque twist is crazy, it will lift both tires, with obviously one much more then the other. geuss no more reverse rockcrawling for me

I had the same problem, I added 1.75oz to each rear wheel and tamed it quite a bit.

it made it so my passenger side tire stays on the ground when i launch it now, when before it would lift about two inches but would
drop quickly. Before that i did the four link over under on the rear only the passenger wheel would stay up for a bunch longer so that helped first.
So the combo of both really has helped me out. My lower and upper links are quite parallel to the ground. with exception to the passenger side
upper rear which is on a slight incline towards the trans plate on account of it being bolted under the 4 link plate.

I figure the weight of the motor and the fact that the drive shaft is is now on the drivers side made the biggest difference.
think of the torque as a ratchet, before the ratchet had a long handle, easy to torque on stuff. Now with the drive shafts on the other
side it seams like a short handle ratchet, harder to turn to get the same amount of torque. Inch/pounds. makes sense to me.

I have internal springs all the same size at "1.5/16th under the piston and nun above. I have over 1/2 droop that is now my rebound.

Not finished yet still have the battery on top that will move when i can get the Behind the axle set up from Axial.

All in all i found the Trany mod worked for me to really help keep my front planted under heavy throttle.

Thanks allot EeePee

This stuff is fun

Mike
Mike I have thought a lot about the lever handle issue myself, thinking that the lever action would change by moving the tranny. However, understand that the lever is linked to the chassis and not external to it. If the leverage was external to the chassis than it would greatly effect the torque just like a cheater pipe on a wrench. However in the chassis I do not believe that anything charges and it is just a weight issue. Now if the diff was offset to the drives side rather in the middle that would effect the torque lift, as that is were the torque is applied at the pinion shaft, no matter where the tranny is mounted. Moving the diff would change the lever!!!! I am thinking about mirroring, however I have to remount my overhead ESC above the motor and tranny and the BEC, so I am not rushing into it.

Still thinking about this. If moving the diff in the front axle would effect the torque on front axle, then moving the output in the chassis to the other side would effect the torque that is to transfered to the classis, thus effecting the rear suppension more than front axle lift, maybe?

Guess I will go do the swap and see how it effects the crawler. I kinda want to see what is in the tranny away, as I bought the crawler used.

On edit: Tranny was all stock inside and it good shape. Found that my second delrin skid plate was cracked/broken, so I installed an Aluminum one this time. Guess I will have to stop falling off rocks!!! Off to test after lunch.
