| My FJ AX10 build, pics & video. Updated pictures! New shoes and installed more parts...I borrowed an idea from another member here and painted the letters on my Rock Claws. Well I've been floating around for a while and reading a lot trying to learn as much as I can about my AX. Thanks to all for some great ideas! New Brite FJ body Novak 55t Rooster Crawler ESC Futaba receiver (stock servo blew up) Traxxis servo (for now) 1500mAh split battery with axle plates Stick on wheel weights (3oz. front, 1.5oz. rear) On order: Bent lower links Drive shaft rings Servo plates Shocks from JP 12T pinion 20T pinion I'm new to RC crawling but not new to building RC cars and trucks. This was a fun kit to build. I built it completely stock so I could see how it did in stock form. Now it's time to start modding. I'm going to build a custom skid plate out of a cutting board to triangulate the links and also do the mirror trans mod. This thing has way too much torque twist. Here's a few pictures and videos... I have a problem I can't figure out, I think I sheared the pin off but I'm not sure. I can't get the wheel hex off, I took the set screw out and it won't budge! I don't want to damage the bearings...any ideas? I want to go with straight axles, but no one has them in stock! http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...t=STP60847.flv http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...t=STP60846.flv http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...t=STP60853.flv http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...t=STP60858.flv http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...t=STP60856.flv http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...t=STP60857.flv Here's a few videos of my custom built New Brite FJ crawling... http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...t=STP60841.flv http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...t=STP60842.flv Comments and suggestions welcome! I'm not in this for comp, just for fun! Last edited by Drnkirishm; 04-17-2008 at 12:10 PM. |

I had the stick pack in while I was waiting on the split battery from ckcrawlers. I like the Novak, plenty of torque. That midnight pumkin is around 19 years old now. I just got her back up and running, it's so fast you break parts left and right!

| I bought the New Brite FJ cruiser from KBtoys.com for $34.99 each. I think they're up to $39.99 now. Toys R us sells them too for like $60. They have a few Jeeps also. Amazon.com also sells the New Brite crawlers... I swapped the shocks and lower links last night and had to trim more of the body away. I'll post some more pics later. |

Yes Toys R' Us does sell them, I opted to purchase the nicer of the two between New Brite and Nikko. 2007 Ultimate Adventure FJ Cruiser Build Last edited by WVB; 03-29-2008 at 01:57 PM. |

You're build looks sweet! I originally bought it for my son but he's only two and isn't ready for it so I took it for myself. If I were doing a scale build I would go with the nikko body too. | |

With the wheels hex's. I found the sort of snapped on over the pin that you slide them onto, and with a little prying, they pop right off....or atleast that is what I did to get them off.

Thank You... I went with the Nikko because 1) quality and 2) I believe the wheelbase is actually wider then the Brite...

Some updated pictures. JP customs 110mm shocks, bent lower links. No more torque twist with this setup and I'm still waiting on the servo plates. No more leaning... |

| I haven't had a chance to get outside with the new tires yet so they still have their shine. I'm sure I'll have to repaint the letters after some rock thrashing! Built some fake rocks for those rainy days... |

I used great stuff foam and trash (cans, cardboard, six pack holders). I threw everything onto a big piece of cardboard and started spraying foam, I think I used 5 or 6 cans. Walmart sells them for like $4! After I got the form I wanted I let it cure and then carved it a little. Next I cut up some old t-shirts and mixed up tile grout till it was like soup and dipped the shirts in the mix and place ontop of the foam. Let it dry a few days and then spray it with the paint of your liking. I used stone spray paint, two cans did the job.
