| Where to place battery?
I just got an AX-10 and am wondering where to place my battery. I have a Mamba Max esc, CC Bec, Integy 55t Lathe motor and a LiPo 2100 mah 7.4V battery. I was wondering if it should just be placed in the stock place, since being lipo it shouldn't screw with the cog as much as a stick pack, or if I should mount it on top of the servo on the front axle? Also if anyone else is running a similar setup, about what kind of runtime should I expect. This is my first crawler and after I did a little research I feel this should be a decent setup. If you guys have any suggestions let me know. Any help is appreciated. P.S. I just recently couldn't pass up a deal on a new Novak Super Duty XR esc so maybe a second crawler is soon to follow. Victor Don't worry many pictures will follow the finished product. |

what are the dimensions of the battery? if you could fit it next to the servo with the low CG battery plate that would be your best bet.

I will have to get the dim. but I know it is too big to fit along side the servo. Even with it moved over. Victor |

Regardless of weight, GO LOW!! The lower the better. I'd either stick it on top of the servo or on the front upper links if you can fit it in there. As far as run times, I'm running a CBP saddle mount on the front axle. It's a 1500 mAh, and I average 40-45 min. depending on what kind of running I'm doing. I'd say you could expect at least an hour. |

I had my lipo on the front axle but just moved it to the front upper links to give that a try.

I am running my 7.4v 2100 lipo on my axle next to my servo, on what is like a after market axle plate but with a 4 link incorparated. it runs fine but their is a slight angle on the battery. I get a good run time and my center of gravity is even better.

I'd run a 3 cell with that 55t and place it on the front upper links. On a 2 cell,it'll be weak. The extra voltage will wake it up a bit. I run my 3 cell on the upper links and use wheel weights and brass blocks to add weight where I need it. My ax-10 is running a 35t on a 1350 mah 3 cell. I'm running 81/15 gearing and it's a shade less than 6 pounds. It'll run a whole comp (3 10 gate courses) on a single charge, but I typically re-peak before the finals so I know I've got all the power/wheelspeed I need. Just crawling around on my rock garden at home,I can get about 40-45 minutes I guess. Allot can change though if you keep it pegged. |
