| Some pics of my AX10 and a couple questions
Well today was the first time i got to drive.......after about a month of waiting for parts and saving money. as you all know......these things are so fun!!!! ok well frist.....im running a completley stock chassis novak goat esc novak 21.5 turn crawler brushless motor ace dc1313 steering servos(the rear steer isnt installed in these pics) JR XR3 radio and reciever common sense 7.4v 1100mah 15c lipo pack and of course the super sweet clk500 body......which works out quite nicley since i ruined the betty body when i tried to paint it and ran out of paint in the middle.....long story short i messed it up real bad....so i trashed it. as you can see its nothing special......but its fun! also ive got a couple questions.......first would investing in the 30degree links be a good idea? it sure does get hung up on those bottom links quite often. second any other ideas for adding unsprung weight to the truck? ive already got 3.5 ounces in each wheel which made a huge difference. i wrapped sticky wheel weights around the wheel. or maybe better foams would be a better idea than more weight? third anyone check out those MIP CVD driveshafts? im gonna order some but i thought id see what other people thought about them first. thanks in advance for any help....and i hope you like my newbie truck. |

Im sorry but that body looks hideous on there..lol The bent links are a very nice and needed upgrade IMO.. They make it ALOT more smoother over the rocks. And yes, adding weight to the trims (esp the front) is also a good add on. Where do you have your battery mounted? I see your running a lipo. Mounting that on the front axle, or at least towards the front would help as well. |

Cut the foam inserts or get memory foams. Softer springs in front. Ditch the tires because they ain't worth a shit. Bent links in the back, get a split pack 6 or 7 cell battery pack and mount them on the front axle. Oh and put the bumpstops inside the shock body.

I'd go with bent links all around, axial battery plate and get battery down low over the front. Tyres arent "that" bad in my opinion and it depends on your terrain anyway. shock rod rubber stopper inside the shock underneath the piston ring to limit travel and stiffen springs, which you should replace with the "white" soft ones. Also cut the skid plate edges out as displayed in several posts on here, and move the lower links inside the chassis for a drastic decrease in hangups on pointy rocks and ledges, move the plastic spring mount up the rod a little with some plastic spacers, to avoid the shocks coming into space needed for the links to flex. MUCH easier than putting the other end of the bent links outside the shock mount using spacers. It is working great for me.

The tires are just fine, I have moabs, losi's, and lizards and im using the lizards just because there sticky enough and they dont clog up on dirt like losi's, but looking at the location your at, doesnt look like you would have a issue with losi's because thats really fine dirt. When/If you are going to imboard the lower links, make sure there not facing inward towards the drive shaft where it connects to the axle, then you'd have your 3 link and lower links going the same direction, and you want them to be some what opposite.

The tires make the biggest difference in the world. Believe me the stock tire compound is so hard, plus they won't side hill for anything. You change those to some losi's or try the new flatirons by proline, and its like a whole different truck. But then againg don't listen to me cuz I only run my junk on the rocks, what do I know.

well damn...appearently the body was a bad choice...i didnt really have a choice tho....i just had it laying around from one of my other cars and i wasnt about to go out with no body. i guess ill need to move my battery to the front axle...its mounted on the rear right now. i totally noticed that those stock tires dont have much traction when "side hilling" if thats what its called.....but other than that they seemed fine for the terrain around here. uhm...i guess ill go get a new body now since its so ugly.

I have read that if you clean the tires with Simple Green & then spray a liberal coating of WD-40 of them it will soften them up some. You will need to repeat that process from time to time to keep them soft. I guess that body is "almost" better than nothing But I cant say too much, I slammed a VXL Rustler body on my AX. I thought it looked good too. |

| Dude....seriously....punch your self. Ditch the Benzo body. I thought the VW Bug looks a little funny, even though I run one. But that blows everything I've seen out of the water. |

1-Get the HPI Bug body (keep it old school) 2-Get the bent links 3-Ditch the tires and keep the weights 4-Get the TCS 4-link servo plates (boomerang will work for rear) 5-Change to softer springs 6-Add more weight to the front 7-Put the shock stops inside the shock under the piston to lower the rig 8-Mod your skid plate or buy a pre-made shid to run your lower links inside the chassis 9-Get all of you electronics low 10-When you think its perfect, change something else |
