Default Overhaulin'

I am starting with my fairly stock AX-10 Scorpion kit. When I first built it and drove it, it was fun, but it was way to top heavy. It could not go much past 60* vertical without rolling over. It was so tall that any side hill much past 30-40* was too much and it would flop over.

I struggled with getting the weight down low and finally did when I added weight to the wheels. Currently I am running Proline wheels and Flat Irons with 10.5 ozs in front and 7.5 ozs in the rear.

In addition, the steering is terrible and I realized this when we had our first local comp and I was hit with so many backs just to make a simple turn, that I was never in the running. I played with 4ws to help this, although not comp legal, but that was almost worse than before. Any small input to the front steer also put in rear steer and that would usually put me in a worse situation than I was in before.

Having gone through all this and still not real happy with its performance, I decided it was time for a rebuild, or .........Overhaulin' !!

Here is where I started.....

Axial AX-10 Kit
Rooster Crawler ESC
Novak Fifty-Five motor
Stock transmission
Stock rears
Stock shocks
Hitec HS-645MG steering servo (front)/ HS-625MG (rear)
Bent rear links
Axial Rear steer kit
Proline wheels
Proline Flat Iron tires
10.5 oz fr/ 7.5 oz rr

Lookin good Glad to see your ditching the rear steer. It will make things smoother when we are running our comps. Keep it up!

I really did the rear steer just for fun. It was cool to play with it, but it made it real hard to get up any real hard stuff, It would just throw you off your line when all you needed was the front end to find a little better traction... It was cool to play with though....
