Dont know what you meen by your battery coming apart.

You may want to try a li-po battery. I have the same low CG mount and all i need to keep the battery in place is velcro(hook&loop)

I am probably one of the few that have saddle packs mounted out back. I have PLENTY of weight up front though.

How/why are your packs coming apart? Do you mean coming loose during runs?

I run a 7 cell split pack on my front axle on home made plates no problems. Same as Hotrodvw setup above.

I'm not using any plates. I screwed the velcro straps right to the top of the axle. I think I paid about $35.00 for this battery from CBP.com.

Heat shrink tubing, and practice on the soldering. I usually tack my battery's together with CA glue first, then solder the bars on then heat shrink.

Solder your pack back together, and use GOOP to glue the cells together in the valleys where they meet.

I was refering to him using the lipo front plate for a split pack instead of using the center servo mount and splitting the packs as in the picture you posted above. I made plates for my 7 cell split packs & you attached your velcro straps to the axle no plates. I assumed he was asking how you mounted (used) your battery packs!

That would be my stock battery mounting plate, and the U shaped brackets that mouted it to the chassis. I cut it in half, and mouted the rec. and esc to each side. Here's a bit of a better picture.
