| New steering kit idea
Hey all you parts manufactures, how about this to build for the masses. Make a BTA steering kit. It could basically be 3 parts. The first two parts would be high-steer knuckles to get the clearance over the suspension links so a bunch of spacers aren't needed. The third part would be the plate to mount the servo to the axle. It could use the kit steering linkages if done properly. Make it easy for the every day guy without a bunch of fab tools to go BTA on the AX-10. I hate the front mounted steering but don't want to cobble one together witha bunch of spacers or odd angled steering linkages. What do you think? Wo would be interested in such a kit besides me? |

it is definitely a benefit but not on my priority list. This guy has a custom setup that is really clean looking: Screaminsavages comp rig with BTA I could see a market in it...but i'll save the $$ and pick better lines! |

I would buy it too. My front steering linkage is taking a beating. It also gets hung up on the rocks every once in a while.

I'd be in for one, if I don't have my own fabbed by then.

Yes, a high-rise linkage kit would be very nice. But only if it is very well done of course.

I want to see knuckles made like hi-steer axles on a 1:1 Dana60 Im currently finishing my BTA and I have the RCP knuckles, they working great but I have to run a extension to get them up higher to clear shocks/linkage I was going to try and cut the attachment point off and weld it up higher... but I dont want to jack up those $$ knuckles If one is to design them I recommend making them the same plain as the top of the axle pinion, that way the linkage goes on top of the knuckle and over the top of the axle pinion.....and then PM me and I will buy a set I will try and get pictures up tonight of my BTA setup. it works and im getting better turning then when I was stock setup |

I thought about building a spacer that bolted to the knuckle and also tied into the upper pivot screw. It would raise the tie point in and support the knuckle ear that way. Only if I had a mill...

| Thats the point of this proposed kit, to not have to cobble it together using existing stuff and a bunch of spacers or weird bent angled linkages. High-steer knuckles are the only way to do this and they shouldn't be any more expensive to make than the existing AL knuckles.

I LOVE the steering geometry between the servo and knuckle on this setup, it will allow for further travel without binding. good work. If only the split packs would work with this | |

This thread really wasn't made to talk about existing home-made setups. I've done all the usual searches like everyone else. Like I said, I don't want bent-up links that are that way just to make it work. Bent links will bend more or flatten out when pushed. It would be nice to have a kit that avoids just getting by with existing, incorrect for the application, parts. |
