Default helhedded's first build

I shall dub thee, "Black Metal Betty"

Thanks to CKRC for getting this out to me in a timely fashion. This was my first complete build ever, and I had a blast. I skimped on the body-off pics, for what reason I'm not sure

ax10 kit
CC Sidewinder with Castlelink for uber settings control
Hitec Aggressor 2-chan
Novak 55t
Losi Claws with cut foams
CKRC Stage 2 suspension kit with bent links
CKRC 6-cell split 1500mah packs and plates
1 sexy hacked Black Betty

I've done the skidplate mod and I'm now waiting on a rear Straight axle kit, 2 more bent links, 2 more soft springs, driveshaft rings and some memory foams.

So far I've stripped a couple link ends, broken a driveshaft (replaced with stampede shafts), broken a 3-link connector, popped of a shock, and gained a little more play in my rear locker.:-( My set screws on both of my yolks (tranny side) are stripped. It's really weird because the screws on the axle side aren't. What's a good way to remove those set screws?

I included some pics of my backyard spot as well.

hell yeah! there are a few in there that I needed help transporting due to their weight. I honestly don't want to move into another house because i'd hate to have to move these rocks.

when you say issue, do you mean does it get in a bind easily? in that sense, I would say yes. I will add that the flex shot was with me holdiing it that way, and the shocks were fully pressed. can you describe some binding situations that you think a truck like mine would get into?

I'm still messing with different set-ups, but I suppose most folks would say that I have too much articulation.

something i would suggest is move the rear springs to the front and the fronts to the rear... keep your rear stiffer then the front is other then that looks good.

yeah that makes sense. I got some more soft springs on tonight and I put one stock spring on the left rear. that helped the torque twist slightly, but it also makes the truck lean since that one spring on the rear is different. I bet that problem would be fixed if I had all axial springs instead of 3 (wherever ckrc gets them) and one axial.

I also installed the rear axle straight deal- no more floppy c hubs and junk. that along with 2 more bent links and some driveshaft rings.

1) the bed looks really cool dovetailed like that. but i woulda bobbed it a little too.

2) the front fenders (or lack there of) looks terrible

3)you need a black metal sticker on that truck (enthroned, mayhem, emporer, god dethroned, angel corpse, dark funeral, naglfar, immortal, dimmu)

4) just drill out those set screws with a really small bit, using the drill you already have

5) dude, thats more flex than you can really use

HAVE FUN

put the stock axial (blue) springs in the back(both sides) and it wont lean to one side. it should aslo take a little of your flex out with the stiffer springs and it will be more stable while climbing.

thanks for all the cool pics. What kind of steering servo are you using, and also battery packs, and their life?

fun is definitely being had!
that's it. I'm changing her name to Death Metal Betty. I chose "Black" because the paint was black, and I used "metal" because that body just screams it when it's hacked and painted black. A Gorgoroth sticker would be pretty sweet, though.

I will try that tonight!

I'm using the Hitec 645mg, and a 6-cell 1500mah pack from CKRC. I get about an hour of run time.

thanks!!

New stuff :
Rear straight axles
2 more ckrc bent links
Traxxas shafts
shaft rings from TCS
custom hybrid losi/proline mem foams

... limited my articulation to about 45 degrees...it was near 90. It drives a lot better with less flex. Torque twist is getting better. I preloaded the LR stock axial blue with one of my ssmt shock springs. :-P I've also learned that driving my rig with the shocks upside down with a lot of flex (about 60 degrees at the time) was a bad idea. I went down to the river over the weekend and popped off a couple spewing oil everywhere! The doors and rear where trimmed up some more.
