Default X-Treme BTA with Stock Parts

Yes, I am going to do BTA steering with extra steering from stock parts. hopefully i will not need anything other than what comes in every Kit.

First, i have some pics of the stock setup which i am plain not happy with.

Next is a pic of the first problem with BTA and stock components. The suspension mounts are definately in the way.

Next, just nix the mounts and you should be golden. But wait, i want to get rid of that gap between the knuckle arm and the C mount. I am actually only going to use 1 screw for the mount to make clearances.

To get more throw out of the stock crap, i need to find the source of the bindage. it ends up, the extra material on the cups is not even needed at all...it probably keeps wear on the ball down but who gives a shit? i am going to get rid of that.

This sequence of pics shows how to remove the stub shaft without actually taking the knuckle off the C. its so simple!

Be carefull how much you take off, I ruined a set of TLT axle stubs taking too much off.

Why not just counter sink that hole. If you with run it with only one screw it will flex like hell.

Instead of running one bolt to hold the c's on, counter sink the hole with a 3/16 drill bit and find a counter sink bolt to fit, 3mmx8mm. I couldn't find any locally so I just used a short button head screw and jammed it in there after counter sinking the hole.

so are you going to mount both the shock and link to that one little plastic mount?

I did and it work for about 15 mins and it fell about a foot. to its death

Way I first installed it and FAILED

Current setup used 1"x1" angle alum. and cut and bent out one end for the link attachment

what do you need shock and link mounts for when you run torsion? that answers the question about the EYE-bolts.

i also figured out how to cut the plastic so i could fit the stock screw cut down and have it clear.
