| Noob atempt to build a comp ARTR all input is appreciated
I'm starting my first rock crawler build. With the help of this site and Corey from RPP which is where most of this stuff came from I'm starting this build today. I will keep posting pics and updates. If anyone has any good tips please post them. Heres a quick rundown of what I'm gonna be running if you cant see the pics. 1. Artr AX10 2. RC4WD R2D trans with my modified STRC bottom plate 3. STRC orange alum. C-hubs and Steering arms 4. MIP drive shafts 5. CC sidewinder and CC BEC 6. Integy 65T 7. Max Ams 2s4p 1680 MAH lipo 8. HS-7955TG for steering and HS-645 for R2D 9. TCS front and rear 4-link plates and axle batter plates 10. Spektrum DX3-R rx and tx I had to mill the aluminum plate down and drill and counter sink new holes. The linkage is off of a traxxas. Last edited by number1cop; 07-04-2008 at 11:58 AM. Looks like a good start to me. You may want to check into some better shocks though.

Thats what I have been reading. Seems like the 65T is more for running 11.1 or higher volts.

even with 11.1 v i think it will be to slow, but since you have it try it out and see thats the fun of this hobby try thiings and change them..... the saying "if it aint broke dont fix it" doesnt work in this hobby...... |

Looks good overall. I'd consider a slicker skid, possibly a Delrin one. Aluminum tends to hang up on rocks more easily than most plastics.

After spending a little over four hours wirebrushing, grinding, and polishing with compund trying to make my R2D shift properly I came to the conclusion that the rear output shaft has a flat spot on it and its oblonged and will only go smoothly on one side. So basically it will only go on the shaft one way and has to turn 180 degrees to go back on instead of 90 degrees. I'm going to contact Corey on monday and see what he says about it. Anyway Here is a pic of the stock front axle. Here is where I countersunk the STRC C-hubs and put in a tappered screw for a little more steering angle. Here is the complete set-up with TCS 4 link and battery plates. |
