| Need some advice on building my first crawler...
This is my first post on what I feel is the most informable rc crawling site in the world! I am planning on building a crawler, starting with the AX-10 kit. Here is what I plan on buying so far: AX-10 Kit TCS High Clearance Links TCS Delrin Axle Plates (Battery Mount) TCS 9.6v 8 cell Split Pack TCS Edge Tube Frame TCS Internal Shock Springs (Assortment) Novak Rooster Crawler Edition With Novah 55T Motor I may buy used. If someone has something for sale, let me know as I cannot seem to locate a classified section on this forum. My question is, What do you all recommend? I still need a servo. Are there any mods that I need to do? I greatly appreciate any and all advice in advance! Thanks! |

the classifieds can only be seen when your post count gets so high. that way people dont just come here and start ripping people off. btw sounds like a nice build |

Personally I would look into the Tekin FXR/55t combo that TCS has, especially in an Edge chassis because that esc is so small it will fit easily in there. Also as far as the shock springs, you can get an assortment of their internals, but medium is basically all you need because the soft ones are almost too soft for anything, and the firm ones are way too firm. Right now I'm running full mediums under the piston inside the shocks, and about half the length of them on top of the piston, with the rubber limiter inside the shocks as well. Lots and lots of options out there for different setups, you just gotta mess around with a few and see how you like driving it.

I dont own one but a lot of people say the castle creations sidewinder is the way to go. That will be the next one I buy. Costs around 75.00. Can be used for brushed and brushless and has computer programmable paramaters including drag brakes.

Good advice as well, both my rigs have Sidewinders and the third one I'm building is getting one too. I've just heard alot of good things about that Tekin combo, so if I was gonna go 55t that's the way I would go to get that tiny esc.

sounds good but don't forget the TCS 4 link boomerang in the rear and the servo plate in the front.

the rear one will help with torque twist, as long as you mount the driver side link on top. Also the stock 3 link y setup is prone to failure in certain conditions.

| http://www.tcscrawlers.com/TCS-Alumi...g-p-16612.html http://www.tcscrawlers.com/TCS-Alumi...g-p-16613.html those are what I was referring to, don't think you are going to need anything extra to mount the servo in the front (I didn't on my delrin peices). As for servo I'm running a hitec 645mg but I would like to upgrade to this http://www.tcscrawlers.com/Hitec-595...e-p-16189.html |

I believe they are. hmmmm there's a lot of things that you could do rock claws for tires with wheel weights in them is one. Also those stock shocks just end up leaking and not working so well. My buddy the oneK has an edge with traxxas big bores setup in semi droop and it works well (uses it for comps) I use the big bores as well and won't change to anything else.
