newb here....tuber ax-10 pro and cons

done a little searching....ok ok ....just a little little...looking to get away from my jeep habit a little bit, maybe check out the whole R/C scene....i really like the tube chassis design ax-10 style...what are the pros and cons of running these style trucks....thanks in advance...

tough to say what pros and cons are until you build one and test run it to find out what needs tweeking... depending on what you go with for a tuber you may run into delays making everything work properly ie: custom links, tranny mounting, etc... tcscrawlers makes the edge tube chassis which is a direct bolt on tuber for the ax10.

if you are in the jeep habit....you should know the pros and cons of this kind of stuff....its all the same only scaled down....you can drive a stock jeep or a stock ax-10 or you can build or buy a full tube chasis crawler like the poison spider bruiser and do the same with an ax-10...........carefull on here when asking questions....use the search button or the old timers will destroy you.

Ive built and ran both TVP and Tubers and my thoughts are with the bodies being so small nowadays there isnt much advantage to a tuber unless you like the looks...I now run a TVP'd bodied rig and love it but Tubers have a special place in my heart...

True, and with crawler-specific bodies nowadays, a TVP truck can look just a cool as a tuber.

I'd say if you are just starting out, stick with a TVP chassis for now. There are many different ones to be found here, and they are very easy to make yourself.

You can always "upgrade" to a tuber when you know axactly what you want out of it.

imo, tube chassis are cool especially with scale rigs. however, i'm not sure in comp rigs. the only problem with my tuber was on roller overs. once it was on it's roof, i could never right it compared to my comp rig (the green truck one). i like the TVP with bodies better for competitions.

plus once you get yours, we can start figuring out how to build a tube chassis from scratch.

oh yeah, tubers normally weight more than a TVP but that's more a personal preference.

Exactly, recovering from a roll over is the one major con of the tuber. Keeping withing the comp rules for the tube chassis specs, it could be difficult to design out this problem. So if you build one keep that in mind.

when i built my tuber and ran it in a comp i was forced to do a couple rollover touch's i knew i wouldnt have had to do if i had my TVP and trusty bug body but live and learn Its still a sick ass tuber

not only are they a pain to get back on their wheels, they are usually HEAVY. A heavy tube chassis will make getting a low cog kinda tuff.
