Thanks, I am originally from FL. You are correct sir! Quote:
I plan on cutting the foams, drilling the rims and eventually replacing all the links with aluminum from Axial and converting it to a 4 link. Even with the stock motor it is torque twisting and wrapping up the rear links when it gets bound up. I will be looking for a different speed control soon as I don't like the brakes on the stock unit, so any suggestions would be great. Thanks again everyone, SGT A. | ||

| The Castle sidewinder is a very versatile ESC, and then you want to upgrade to brushless it will be ready. You could buy a used sidewinder and a lathe motor, and have a REALLY nice setup for a small amount of money. If you want the step up, the mamba is their high performance ESC and will handle more voltage. I don't know your battery setup, but the first thing that you need to do is get some saddle packs, or if you're going to upgrade the ESC you could get a LiPo pack, and mount them on the axle. I think that is one of the single most important mods that you can do to an axial crawler. In stock form, the heaviest part of the truck is in the highest position on the chassis, which really throws off your center of gravity. Also, the sidewinder and mamba are programmable, so you can program exactly how much drag brake you want to have and holding power, along with a lot of other settings, just by plugging it into the USB port on your computer. I'm assuming you're in the armed forces based on the pics and your location. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you do for our country and it's citizens. Regardless of my political views, you guys answer the call everyday and put yourselves in harms way for us. If it was up to me you should all get free crawlers. I've only been into crawling for a few months, but I've fallen hard so be careful. I have three beautiful girlfriends, and they're all axials. In fact, one of them has just undergone plastic, aluminum, and carbon fiber surgery to become a full on comp rig. If you have any questions or I can help with anything, please feel free to shoot me a PM. With the rigs I have ande all the parts I've been replacing, I probably have a lot of aluminum parts that you could use to upgrade the plastic stuff, and there's no one that deserves them more than someone serving our country.
