Very nice 4 link setup

drilldeep 07-18-2008 06:31 PM

thanks.....not alot of feedback...hmmmmmm

BigSki 07-18-2008 07:03 PM

how well is that batt mounting location working for you?

drilldeep 07-18-2008 08:21 PM

its not....lol its better than the stock location tho...at least the weights up front, but its still top heavy. im just not quite convinced on how many cells i want to put in my saddle pack. i am leaning towards 8. i was really hoping to get some comments on here...as to what i should do or what i did wrong or anything of the sort....i still havent met a single rc crawler in person since i have started this stuff so i have no outside input on my rigs from people in the hobby.

heres some front yard pics....

I dig it .."thumbsup".. I've started with the rtr.... and have been slowly moding ever since.... had the truck completely apart then back again a few times.... What links are you running for your rear uppers...?? standard lowers ..???

drilldeep 07-19-2008 11:16 AM

yeah i got the standard lowers and then paralleled them with the bent lowers and drilled the frame. it really works....i like the look of the truck body but i am afraid its gonna have to go soon. i think its limiting due to its overall size

GH Racing 07-19-2008 02:11 PM

looks great"thumbsup"
great pics too

I have done the same thing to my RTR. It has been a work in progress. You can check out the various stages in my vids.

Stock RTR with 14t pinion in this vid

Stock with lowered battery, star cut foams, weights in the wheels and a better steering servo

Here it is with a 4 link set up Panter Cougar tires, axle mounted batteries, new body, and bent link setup.

RockCrusha 07-19-2008 03:13 PM

I got an RTR as well. I butchered the body a little more than you LOL - very functional now! I'm thinking about going with the Jconcepts single cab RockSteady... saving money for future upgrades! - But i'm running 2s thunder power lipo, front mount battery / servo plate, anodized hex hubs, front steer links, rooster 12t, integy 55t, 14t pin, butchered the foam, Futaba 3pm! i'm in need of some links as my rears are bent to $--T.. Looks like axial came out with some machined rears with my name on them!

drilldeep 07-19-2008 03:24 PM

yeah i like to keep the body as stock as possible or at least as realistic as possible...i think it helps with the p.r. aspect. outsiders are more intrigued by a real looking truck.

I am sorry but I am not to hip with the lingo, what is p.r. aspect??

Thanks
T

drilldeep 07-19-2008 03:43 PM

lol.......its not hip lingo i just couldnt think of a good term.... public relations???? people on the street like to see what the truck can do but i always get asked if its fast cuz it kinda has a prerunner look to it. i think im gonna go tuber so they will get the hint! or a big sticker that says .....NO ITS SLOW!!!

drilldeep 07-20-2008 05:38 PM

dont all r/c's go fast???

drilldeep 07-27-2008 04:55 PM

next stage......

so i ditched the strc tranny plate and put the stock one back on....the aluminum is like superglue on the slickrock..aka sandstone. i went back to a sprung front end because my style of driving doesnt do well with belly dragging...trimmed the body to near comp limits...made my own split 6cell pack and added a grip of weight to the front wheels. it has really come alive now...i think its getting closer...all i need is a dig and a few dozen other things...lol:mrgreen:

Pick up the RCP Alum. Upgrade Kit (front knuckles for better turning) or buy the pieces separately... I would also recommend the Axial universal joint (better front turning) set for the front, MIP C Drive Spline, and ditch the front bent links...

Aluminum or Delrin beadlocks (Delrin by Eritex Inc.) Do a search for Alum ones.

The best thing before any more upgrades are made would be run time, run time and some more run time...

aztitan 08-10-2008 07:56 PM

Totally lovin the original cut body.

Im a total newb but you are a pretty good inspiration to me.
Im gonna follow your lead a little bit.
