I think its a good kit! lets you add the electronic, motor, etc. Plus comes with kick a$$ links and body! If your into putting together and like the b17 body, rock the comp kit otherwise stick with this one! add a sidewinder a 55t or 65t mtr, or brushless if thats what makes your tarts pop, get the front mount servo/batt plate and stick a mini lipo 2 or 3s and a HT servo on it to manage that weight and get it to the front, a 3PM or a DX3R Radio and your pretty much set. Then you can worry about the future upgrades later on but still have a solid foundation to Crawl...

I ordered one. It will hopefully be here early next week. Are there any upgrades anyone would recommend? How strong a steering servo should I use? 4WS recommended?

with plastic knuckles, probably, I just got a 9100t, 370 oz for around $100, vs the 8711's $140 price tag.

I am also running the rcp aluminum knuckles and C's.

no such thing as over kill!

I wanna see someone with an 8711 on the new 1/18 losi

It will be all stock for a while probably. I may change the shocks and put 4ws but I will just goof with this for the most part. I am going build a pond possibly with a little stream going into another pod in my back yard to crawl and that will probably be the most I do with it.

If a would have been home where the rest of my cars and parts are I would have bought a ARTR over the RTR. Look around, tower got almost $70 more than some of the vendors on this site want for the same rig.

I already ordered it off ebay mainly because it seemed like the only place that it wasn't back ordered. I also got it for $249 shipped which seemed like a good price.

Just so you know, it doesn't come ready for 4WS. The rear is a solid axle so you would have to swap parts to make the rear a steering axle.

Oh yea, I forgot about that. I will try it as is for now, if I really need it I will get the stuff to set it up. I know when the TCS race was here a couple of months ago there was a rockcrawler trailer that came and I drove their AX10 with 4ws and I liked that way it drove. Thanks

I got one of the orange ARTR's. They are awesome, wish I had been able to buy that back when I got my kit.

Build quality is excellent. Minor adjustments here and there and I had another truck that is a blast to run. The tires are good, the only real issue I had was since I did not put the tires/wheels together I didn't feel like taking them apart to add weight to them.

The body is great, takes a beating, and like the bug body has a tendency to roll you up onto the front wheels when you flip over so you can just blip the throttle and come back over.

I just got my ARTR in Friday. I got mine from CKRC cause that was the cheapest place I found. $229. But, shipping took forever. And I was missing part of my order from the shipment. I didnt get the battery pack I ordered. So, you may get better service and it may be worth the extra buck your gonna have to spend. You will be satisfied with the truck. If you already ordered it no use in complaining but, from what is sounds like you want it for you may have been better off with the kit since to get 4ws you will have to replace a lot more parts to get 4ws with the ARTR.
With my truck the way it is I only have about a 10 ft turning radius so you might want 4ws if you wanna play. Or get some diffs for the axles. And, with the stock gearing and a 55t motor its gonna be pretty slow. Might wanna go with a 45t or something. I would keep the stock shocks. They are decent no matter what you may hear. I would replace the springs on front though. The stock ones are a bit stiff.

Yea I already ordered it. I will deal with it as is as far as the 4WS goes. If I need it I will just buy a used front to put on there or something. I already have a crawler motor with a reducer on it that I will use for the time being. If it is just brutally slow I will change to a 35T or 45T. Hopefully my kit will be here this week sometime. That along with my two mint Tamiya F1 cars I got from tattookenny on here I should have loads of new fun soon to come. I am going to try and start working on the "pond" in the back yard soon. I have to make it something pretty so the fiancee won't be upset with my crawl spot I am going to build. I like water falls anyway. Anyone have any good topless pictures of one of these kits stock? I have looked for some with no luck.

your gonna like the artr... as far as a servo you can get a hitec 645mg for about $30. That is what I put in my sons ARTR.
You will want to add some weight in the wheels and get either 2/3 a cells in a saddle pack (install them on the front axles) or a small lipo pack and install it on the front axle as well. If you buy a sub c stick pack and put it on the top tray your rig will flip like a pancake on a griddle....
If you want speed you really didnt buy the right toy.....
remember your drivetrain is locked and stopping from a fast speed will torture your driveline....

I am not looking for fast out of this. I have lots of go fast toys. I want alittle wheel speed but not much. I race nitro and electric on-road so I get my go fast in plenty. I am thinking the reduced motor I have should do just right for it.. it should have lots of torque with the motor I have for it.

Default hey

I am planning on buying the artr.
I think it is a nice truck even though I generally prefer to build my own kit.

Also maybe prices will come down on the green kit?
